I have been reading a lot of the medical articles dealing with the side effects and withdrawal. Many of the researchers believe these compounds, originally believed to be a god-send, carry too many issues with them. But they all recognize that there is no other group of drugs as effective for anxiety and/or depression. Around 20% have no issue with taking them and around 20% go through extreme suffering. Even though the FDA and the manufacturers have issued warnings on the side effects and the withdrawal they are still the most effective and popular antidepressant anxiolytic drugs . The psychiatrists I have spoken to in the clinic where I go say that many, especially women, consider them a fade right now. They friends take them and feel no sadness, stress, and even nothing at all and they want to feel the same way. They actually come in the dr office and request a specific antidepressant because they hear that it makes you feel good. It is so prevalent that traces of these compounds show up in nearly all EPA samples of drinking water in the USA. As long as the demand is there then there will always be widespread use.

That's one of the scary parts of these meds. Works for one but not another, side effects from one but not from another, serious side effects after many years of good performance.
I know I always encourage people to read the full drug insert that comes with the new med at a pharmacy. My self, when a dr writes a new script I go into https://dailymed.nlm...lymed/index.cfm and read the full insert in detail BEFORE I get the prescription. I have avoided several problems that way.

When I started, I was told that there weren't any other drugs left to try for my depression. Cymbalta at least keep me functional for awhile. After years of it helping me, it seemed to decrease in its effectiveness. So now I'm back to not being able to function again. With the Cymbalta I was at least able to function for several years. It's no fun to start and it's no fun to withdraw from, but there weren't any other options at the time. Now I have Pristiq, Fetzima and Trintellix as my options. Hopefully I can start on one of those soon and it will work for me.
