For those of you new on the site I have an ongoing story about my psychiatrists. Notice that was plural. I started getting psychiatric help in 2002. During those 16 years I have had 9 psychiatrists . Many moved on to new jobs, 3 retired and one I fired. Well here we go again. In early January I will be seeing my 10 psych dr. Man do I get tired of retraining these drs. LOL I will let you know how this one does.

It’s like a carrousel, where you get on but can’t get off . Finding the perfect psychiatrist has proven elusive for me .
I gave up & have been given better help from my integrative GP. He’s helping me withdraw from my antidepressant ( my second attempt!) extremely slowly & leaving the timing of my cuts up to me . So far so good
You know dear F/H that my wish for you is peace of mind & a pain free life .
You have helped so many over the years & deserve nothing less that .
Can’t wait to hear your review on this new Psychiatrist, keeping my fingers crossed for you dear friend .
Wagtail.:-)

I second Wagtail's sentiments towards your predicament.

You give so much to the forum, and rarely do we have the opportunity to reciprocate.

Here in the UK, you will typically see a different case worker each time you have an appointment, so the same story applies. I must have rehashed my "Duloxetine story" to about half a dozen psy workers in the last 2 months. My only consistency is the forum!

Thoughts are with you as you contemplate undergoing the retraining once again.

Best of luck to you Fishinghat.

I know that I was so incredibly lucky to find the best psychiatrist ever right from the get go after a nasty spell with by GP. I still see the GP but all my Rx's are run by the psychiatrist first before taking.

I know I do not comment much but I still keep an eye out for what is happening here. I cannot believe that it is almost been 6 years since my ordeal began and although I know that I will never be the person I was before the Crapalta, I am doing better these days.

My love to all

Nancy

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the good wishes. Actually, thank God, I am not too concerned. If I don't think I can work with them then I will just fire them and get another one. But I can say I have been blessed with a few really good ones and some that were sort of useless but I could work around them. lol

After the way you guys in the UK describe your system my problems seem small. I can't believe the red tape and rollercoaster you have with your system.

Thanks again, you all are very special.

My sweet Fishinghat,

I heard this story before and you always managed to find the right one or fire the wrong one.

You have come from so far, I'm not worried about you.

Is it that you are brighter than them and know so much that your presence intimidates them.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was the reason.

If you can't find anyone, I'm here for you(lol), free of charge. I will have to hide Acorn from you though. We all love you as you can see!

If you lived in Florida, I'd give you the name of my pdoc, I love her! I drive 3 hours to see her.

Well psychiatrist number 10 today. I was very pleasantly surprised. He is an older dr with a lot of experience but his approach was to find out what I wanted in the short term as well as long term. We seemed to work well together. So far so good.

Very glad to hear it Hat. About time you had this turn of events. So rare to find a doc that will actually be grateful for input and resources that aids your progress and their standing. This is what separates people who work for the sake of it, and those who work for the sake of others. I told the MH team about the Pregabalin paper from the New Zealand lot - they cut me off mid-story! "We have every faith in our doctors, and don't need to read these things".

I'll stop there before my post gets angry!!

But again - happy for you and keep us posted on your progress with Dr. 10 :)

Well, here we go again. Dr. number 10 is out as insurance will no longer pay for an internet dr visit. The clinic I go to is, like so many others, short-handed when it comes for drs. So under a new state law Nurses (RN) licensed in mental health can see patients and write scripts. So my 11th 'pdoc' will be seen by me in July. A shame as I did like the last one.

You'd think that wouldn't affect costs at all? Moreover, this is the way the world is going, so they need to keep up.

Here in the UK, Internet GP's are springing up all over the place because we can foresee the demise of the NHS. My GP will soon retire and the wife and I will be following suit.

Sorry that you have had to loose out on #10 Hat. So will is just be an RN for now, no Doctor?

OK. an update. Last time I posted my insurance would not pay for teledoctors so I had to switch to a new one. I was informed yesterday that the previous dr appealed the claim decision and insurance admitted they made a mistake and do indeed cover teledoctors SO I cancelled out the appointment with the new one and will continue seeing the same dr. Yea, he is OK.

Also I have a lab appointment in a couple weeks for a wbc and t3/t4 blood tests to see if stopping the Lion's Man e Mushroom and NAC has returned them to normal. Will update when I get the results.

Fishinghat, you mean to say that your doctor appointments are made by phone? Is that only for the psychiatrist? Is it because he's too far away?

I don't think that we have that here yet. No Kratom either.lol love you. Hello to J.

There is such a shortage of psychiatrists in the USA that psychiatric doctors often use internet visits to fill their schedules. For some reason pdocs het paid a lot less then regular med docs and of course their is a lot of stress and depression for pdocs. There is a lot of demand for pdocs in the USA as well because we are nearly all crazy.

So it's by internet, where you see each other. Not really by phone.

That is correct but they do call them teledocs as the connection us by internet telephone. A digital telephone connection over the internet connection.

That is quite the thread but don't these guys know there is 3 forms of Lion's Mane Mushroom?  The comments it did so and so to or for me is worthless unless you know what form they are taking.

It didn't make much sense to me, but equally didn't know if it would be of any use to yourself... The Reddit Kratom community is quite useful, so I thought there might be some distance in the discussion...

I appreciate the thought IUN I just wish they gave more info on what they were taking. Each form has different medicinal properties. One good thing is that none of them mentioned any side effects on thyroid or wbc.

It's worth watching the boards as the do have some interesting discussions come up. I think we can discredit the one about feeding Kratom to dogs the other day.... although giving an elderly arthritic dog the chance to walk again was quite heartwarming... :)

Fishinghat, I enquired about the Lion's mane.
The person told me that yes they have water extract that are in capsules. Is that ok?
