Hi guys!

Thanks for all of your help with my initial taper. Things are going really well.

Background: Took 20mg of Duloxetine for 2 months and doc took me off cold turkey. Horrible withdrawals after 3 days and reinstated immediately on the 4th day. 5th day started my first taper, aiming to do 10% over the first two weeks. I have an ambitious taper plan taking me through Jan or Feb of 2020.

My question is this:

For my first 10% drop, I needed to go from 20 to 18mg, for a total drop of 11 beads. I divided this up. So last week I dropped 5 beads total and this week, I dropped six more, for the 11 bead total. I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms so far, aside from one day of a serious tension headache that went away promptly with advil.

I've seen it suggested to do whole drop at one time and then hold for the two weeks. Is there any advantage to the way I'm doing it, but splitting it in half? It seems like my approach might ease symptoms, but then again, I know cymbalta withdrawal BS can rear its ugly head weeks after the original drop, so maybe I should just drop all at once?

Anyone experiment with different approaches? Is there "one right way"?

There is every benefit in cutting that 10% into as many drops as possible. The larger the drop, the worse the effects will be. The brain will work better with a slow and STEADY schedule. Personally, I would have done a bead per day. Dropping 5 or 6 beads at a time will catch you up - particularly as you approach the end. It is better to get into a routine early and stick to it so the brain learns its progress early on.

Interesting! I really like that idea and will probably carve up my % even further. Thanks!

IUN is absolutely correct. I stand with that opinion myself.
