Very interesting. I really appreciate the info. I bet that can be a rough ride for some though. I understand the Dormicum (Midazolam, a benzo)but am not familiar with the use of Quatapine (Seroquel) for benzo withdrawal. I will have to check into that. Thanks again.

The Seroquel is used in low dosages 25/50mg to help sleep and calm down. This week I will go down to 12mg Diazepam. Next week 8mg. This far its going great!

I've been on Seroquel since late December for sleep, but I have to say the amount of articles I've read criticizing doctors for prescribing this particular med offlabel for insomnia (very common apparently) has been pretty offputting... I'm looking forward to being off it personally.

Hi Frog. I understand. It's not as addictive as benzo's but can be hard to get of I guess. I am getting it prescribed for a max of 3 weeks against the rebound insomnia of Zolpidem. Hope all is good :)

Wishing you the best of luck. Insomnia is an awful thing to experience so I certainly understand needing something to get through the interim. I'm hoping to be off the Seroquel over the next couple months or so myself.

Cheers friends! This week on 12mg Diazepam and it's going well.

Next week I will be lowering to 8mg. FIshing, do you think it's a good time to start taking the NAC 600 MG then in combination with my Citalopram?

Wishing you all the best!

The NAC is to help with the benzo withdrawal symptoms. If things are going that well you may not need it. Lets hope things continue well.

He guys,

Update: on 8mg Diazepam. Going to 4mg next week. Feeling a little bit down but that's mainly due to work. Still anxious to go for drives. Besides that A LOT better than while being on Oxa+Zolpidem.

Hey RD...

Sounds good, but go easy with the drop... that is 50%.

He mate,

We went to 6mg instead. Starting this week with 4mg. Didn't have the enormous panic attacks I had weeks ago anymore. Went into the city, got a panickattack there however (maybe pushed myself too much). When I got back home it was under control really fast. Trying to take it step by step.

Good news: since I am off the cymbalta my Testosterone level had doubled!!

Excellent. I would have said that was far wiser. A few exposures are good with anxiety, but few and far between. It is best not to push yourself when the chemicals are not under your control as the reactions are not your own; they are the byproduct of the withdrawal. Do your best to maintain as close to a homeostasis as you can.

But good news and thanks for the update - keep going steady my friend.

He friends,

Update: this week at 3mg of diazepam. Lowering to 2mg next week.

I dropped the quetiapine (quitting it gave me 2 sleepless nights but I didn't feel comfortable taking it). It's starting to become hard. Having withdrawal symptoms but I can still manage and just need to be strong.

Will keep you guys updated!

Yes, remember that a drop from 3mg to 2mg may seem small as it is only 1mg, but you must always think of it in terms of the percentage of the previous dose.

So this is a 33% drop, just like 6mg to 4mg was so my guess is that you should be ok having levelled out, but remember 2mg to 1mg is a 50% drop!! :)

Hello Friends!

A quick update, I dropped from 3mg to 2mg last week Wednesday. Had some hard days but I am holding on/being strong!

I noticed that at the moments I get anxious/scared a small workout in the house helps me loads. Lifting/pushups and boxing on my boxing sack to get some agression out.

This coming Wednesday I will drop from 2mg to 1.5mg.

Would you guys recommend taking the suntheanine or shall I take it when I am done with the detox?

Anyhow, I am holding on! Will try to go a bit faster with the detox. In other words I want to stay on 1.5mg for five days and then lower it. This process is really taking a toll on my mental health and work. I want to get over with it.

The Suntheanine can be taken anytime during the withdrawal.

That is what it wants you to think! We are all like that.

Do not forward plan your next drop - your body will tell you when the time is right. It might only be a few days here and there, but it will make the difference. A drop too soon at this point can be critical which will result in you going 1 step forward to go 2 back.

It sure is tough, but you are so close to the end.

As Hat said start the Suntheanine and that will help level things out, and then consider when you need the drop. Note that Suntheanine can take a good 7-14 days to reach full potency.

Hello friends,

Update: currently at 0.75mg. Will go to 0.5mg next week and then quit the diazepam.

Most of the days after a day of work I completely crash at around 7:30PM. Need to lie down for 40 minutes and after that I'm ok again. The anxiety has been very manageable!

Can't wait to get of this detox, feels like a century.

Will keep you updated!

Amazing RD!!

Very well done for sticking with the slow taper. It always wins the race as difficult as it might seem.

I'm sure I speak for all in saying how proud we are of you!!

Hello all!

Yesterday was the last 0.50mg diazepam I took. Quitting today, feels like an accomplishment! Thanks for all the support!

I'm not there yet however. Need to start doing all the normal stuff again (driving to different cities etc) and it gives me feelings of anxiety because of what I've been through. I will be strong and see how far I can go.

You will get there but don't push too hard. It will still be easy to have a set back.

Congratulations. Great that you acknowledge the importance of reaching this milestone. Great work my friend... benzo withdrawal is never easy and you made it look so stright-forward!

As Hat said, take things slow as you will be vulnerable for a while yet.

Hello friends,

Quick update: I mentally prepared for the first 3/4 days without diazepam. I knew they wouldn't be fun. I can confirm. These last 3 days have been extremely hard. Waking up with anxious feeling, legs and feet as heavy as iron etc.

Still pushing through! I want to get this over with! The first night (30 hours after last intake) was for sure the hardest until now.

You will have a couple months of tough times coming up before it starts to abate. One of the things you can do is take NAC (N-acetylcysteine), It helps calm those gaba receptors some. Not a cure but will help. 600 mg twice a day. It is a strong antioxidant. Be sure and NOT to get one that has beet root extract as it can significantly lower blood pressure.

Fishing,

Thanks. I bought Life Extension N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine 600 mg 60 veggie caps. Should be good I guess. Don't see if it has beet root extract.

No beet anything in them...

Serving Size 1 capsule

Amount Per Serving

N-acetyl-L-cysteine

600 mg

Other ingredients: vegetable cellulose (capsule), vegetable stearate, silica.

Non-GMO

The vegetable stearate is essentially natures own magnesium and doesn't have vegetable in..
