yes, cymbalta worked wonders on my arthritis and fibromyalgia pain. 7 days free from cymbalta and pain is a 7 out of 10 this morning...pretty severe. On the up side, w/d symptoms are non existent this morning. energy level is good. I hope you find help for your arthritis. I have had over 20 years of being on anti-depressants. At 54yrs. old i have decided to live the rest of my life with my mind not dulled with them. For me personally, they have been a crutch, and one by one, i am eliminating crutches and vices from my life. The reason being, what i was doing wasn't working for me. The depression was there anyways, on and off usually coinciding with pms cycle. I am definitely not dissing anyone who chooses pills to help them, just for me, i need to go through the rest of my life with eyes wide open, and feeling all the feelings, good and bad.
Cookie,
Wow, you really made sense. I was not having a manic, high episode, I was FEELING, experiencing happy enthusiastic moments where i was laughing and happy and being me...the me i lost somewhere between prozac, effexor, cymbalta and all the others in between. You made me realize cookie, it's ok to be hyper, excited and 'looking for a party' in so many words. It makes me sad when i think of all the years i have missed, thinking down and out was 'normal'...and yes it did scare the sh it out of me when i 'came down' and didn't recognize the moments of 'happy'. what the hell have these drug companies done to us..not to mention the doctors. But we have a lot of living to do yet guys..some good days, some bad. But to think clearly and FEEL the feelings is worth any physical pain i have to go through.
God Bless us every one.

Yes I know what it feels like to miss the "real you". One hasn´t been oneself in such a long time. Sometimes my friends remind me how sociable and happy I was. Do not feel alone, there are a lot of us, who have missed so many years. I´m sure next years will be better!!!
To update you on my progress I´ve been down to 45mg from 52mg for 3 days. And it hasn´t been easy. I can´t imagine what it would have been like if I had dropped to 30mg as Doctor suggested.
These have been my symptoms: My body temperature is messed up (I´m extremely hot),lack of energy, nausea, my mind becomes blank and I don´t remember what I was doing. I feel bad overall, very weak and dizzy. Feel like being in bed all day.
This week I have a visit from my cousin whom I haven´t seen in such a long time. I would like to enjoy her company.
Remember after cloudy days there is always sunny days!
Hugs
Cookie

I have been Cym-free for 50 days or so. I went through about 3.5 weeks of hell.
But things are better now. How long did it take you to ween down to zero?
It may have been 2 quick. While on Cym I my depression got worse.
You are on the right track. To get your life back the first step for me was
getting off A/D's. Then I had to get right with my close family and friends.
I had subjected them to alot of emotion over the years.
All about thinking and feeling for me. Just trying not to react emotionally to stress.
Hell I don't know. I really just try and stay away from the negitive.
There are good people here. Keep Posting
Peace

dear svw, did the drs. say the elevated liver enzymes were due to you taking cymbalta? I have read it can affect your liver and that is why i was hesitant to drink alcohol while taking it. welcome to the group by the way. these people are wonderful and caring. I understand your withdrawal symptoms and sympathize. I am on day 4 of cold turkey cymbalto withdrawal. This morning isn't too bad so far. I am trying to take it one hour at a time, knowing time is going to fix this problem.
Let us know how your apptmt. goes today, and when you feel bad, this is a good place to vent.
All the best,
Bon bon
So thankful for this website and caring people! My AST and ALT numbers have both dropped 100 points! The doctor believes Cymbalta may have caused the elevations. I do not drink alcohol; had been on Cymbalta 60mg for 3 years. Wish others would post if they have similar circumstances. My doctor is really wanting me to try to drop some weight too. My Cymbalta withdrawals seem to be easing up some. Hope you are doing okay with the withdrawals.

Hi There,
I've been posting on here consistently since last August and haven't seen anyone with evidence of liver problems, although it's one of the main reasons for NOT going on it. I've also read anecdotal reports that doctors are reluctant to prescribe it to those they know drink heavily.
Who knows how many people have liver problems - most of us would have no reason to have them tested. Good thing you found out!
regards, Maureen
