I am a teacher. I have been trying to get off cymbalta for over a year now. Tried it during the school year and it did not work. My nutritionist and I have been working to get off this. I am now two and one-half weeks totally free of the med. The nausea, head zaps, mood swings have been the worst I have ever had. I THINK I am getting better...I do have a day or two every once in a while that seems to be less severe...but it comes back in full force the next day. I sort of feel like Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's, where she says she has the 'mean reds'. Well, I have had the mean reds, maroons, purples, etc. and they seem to replay themselves and wreak havoc with my life! I am taking ginger and licorice to combat nausea and bleeding ulcer aggravation. Other than that, just my regular vitamin regime. I have six weeks until school starts. I teach literacy remediation to middle school students (6,7, & 8 grades). SO, I REALLY need to be feeling somewhat better by then. Any advice? I would like to connect with people who have been totally off the cymbalta about the same amount of time so I can gauge the withdrawal time. Yes, I quit somewhat rapidly, but have been off now for nearly three weeks. I see the old person back (thank God) but am experiencing the withdrawal symptoms so severely that I wonder if I will ever feel normal again?
