This is an excerpt from a brochure regarding a lawsuit involving volunteers for Eli Lilly Cymablta product trail :

Cymbalta has been associated with suicidal behavior since Traci Johnson, a healthy volunteer involved in a trial at Eli Lilly's clinic at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, killed herself in one of the clinics showers. Johnson, who did not suffer from depression, was taken off the drug and given a placebo four days before she hung herself in one of the clinic's showers on February 7, 2004. Johnson was the fifth patient to commit suicide after taking Cymbalta in clinical trials. After her death one-fifth of the volunteers have quit the Cymbalta trial

Just some Information you might find interesting.

Yes, that was very scary, and very, very sad. That is why it is important to tell people here what you are feeling. Just reading that someone else is feeling some of those same things makes it less isolating. I imagine that those poor individuals had no idea what may occur. If it is the one I am thinking of, some of those people were doing the trials for off label usage, such as pain management and urinary inontinence. They would have no reason to even think that a med for those conditions would have impacts on brain chemicals, so the withdrawal likely hit them out of nowhere.

My purpose for coming here is to at least let people know they are not alone. None of us are doctors, (I don't think) and all we can do is tell our story and hopefully keep people new to the withdrawal process grounded while it is at it's worst.

They dont tell us because they are brainwashed. I dont think the drug companies tell them everything, they tell only the stuff that they want to tell. It takes lawsuits to tell the whole story.
I find it really sad and frustrating that our FDA is in bed with these companies.
I was talking to a formaer pharmsist yesterday and she quit because she said it was all wrong, that westrn medacine is run by the drug companies.
Think about doctors and what they really do, very few fix the problem. There are a few Doctors that are trying to but they are few and the establishment is saying they are nuts!
Sad Sad Sad

I never thought I would get like this, this is so not me, Mr. Melo, dont say anything just let it go. Iam reminded of the movie Netwrok when the anchor got mad on live TV!

Just forwarded this post to my husband who IS a doctor. He had noclue that Cymbalta had such bad withdrawl or never would have let me take it in the first place. He was the one who started noticing all the side effects and has researched for hours to get me off this stuff. He said the drug reps come into his offices and tell you how great the drugs are etc, etc, and give tons of sampkes to give out. He himself never beliebed in prescribing much in anti-depressants because of the side effects, I was already on Effexor xr when I met him and doing fine on it, but I switched over to Cymbalta (only 20 mgs) because I was feeling a little anxious from the effexor. There was absolutely no side effects in switching. I just started taking Cymbalta and quit Effexor which he said I could do. I gained so much weight from the Cymbalta which is why I wanted to wean off of it. After starting to read all the other side effects I put it all together the little things I was experiencing, itching, insomnia, no interest to do much, headaches, sweats were all coming from the cymbalta. The first two day I skipped the cymbalta I was so dizzy and nauseous I couldn't move my head in fear of falling over. I never got head shocks but more like head rushes, flu llike symptoms, chills at night, and the dizziness is the pits. Since I started to take the 20 mg Prozac yesterday and quit the Cymbalta I have been symptomless. The Prozac really does help to minimize and really make the withdrawl symptom free. Hope this helps someone. I am starting to feel a little bit more human...just overweight but that will come off. He also has been giving me b12 shots which I do thik helps, lots of Omega 3, CLA, D3 3000UNITS,a multi-vitamin,amino acids, vit E, calcium mag, coenzymeQ10, and a teaspoon of Coconut Oil extra virgin.
Good Luck to all of you trying to get rid of the drug from hell !!!

I spoke to my doctor on Friday and he was interested to hear about the problems I had been having and also in this forum. I am going to send him a link, so he can have a look himself!

That would be great! I hope more doctors that listen to their patients will come on here and read what really happens to people when they come off of this. Not to mention how bad many of us felt while ON it!
