Has anyone started loosing weight since being off of cymbalta? If so, how long did it take. I've read through lots of the posts and have not seen any success stories yet. How long does it take to get the stuff out of your system?

Technically the drug "washes to total elimination in 3-4 days".
Did you mean no success stories on weight loss - or coming off of Cymbalta?? Be easy on yourself now, you have only been off a few days!

I did not get the chance to wean off, my old doctor said just stop taking it. On cymbalta 3.5 years, gained about 15 lbs. Don't know how much was due to age (just turned 40). Been off since January 13, lost 8, but right now I feel human again. I can't say I did anything different, but I do exercise and eat decent (most of the time :) ). 8 lbs down but to me feeling decent and stable on a daily basis is way more important to me than a few extra pounds.

On cymbalta, I wanted to eat a vat of sugar daily, now I rarely even think of chocolate - or eating sugary stuff anymore.
Lots of people "off of the stuff" success stories. Some people gain when off, some lose - sorry I don't think there is a rhyme or reason to this?

I think that once many people get it back together, they don't tend to come here and post because they want to put it all behind them. While I do understand that, I wish more people would report how they are doing a couple of months after the fact ????

I agree, that was my thought as well. Most people probably don't come back after getting better....that's a good sign I guess.

Tomorrow will be a week for me being off it and yesterday I started a mild colon/liver cleanse. I think that I'm so afraid that my liver has been damaged or something since I've been busting my tail at the gym and eating right drinking tons of water for about 3 months with no results. I started getting serious and doing those things because my blood work came back and they said that I have Pre-Diabetes and that I needed to lose weight to try to prevent it becoming full onset Diabetes.

I have been feeling better, but it's so strange how the dizzyness comes and goes. Sometimes I'm even afraid to drive and theirs no rhyme or reason to when it's going to happen again.

It will get better with time. I'm on day 50, (wow, I can't believe it!) and I was just saying to Sarah that I am a amazed at how much better I feel now, because in the 1st 2-3 weeks, I really wondered if I would ever feel good again.

Someone else posted, and I'm sorry I can't remember who, that their Mom was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, but got a second opinion, and was found to be deficient in vitamin D. I found out that my Mom had that same problem. (There is a point here) I was having severe body aches after coming off of this devil drug, as was concerned about liver damage or nerve damage, but it dawned on my that while on this, I rarely left the house, quit taking vitamins, and was eating horribly. While I am still going to have my liver enzymes checked, I really wonder if it isn't more of a vitamin D thing. I swear, I didn't see the sun sometimes for weeks on end. So, I'm taking my Calcium with D again, my multi vitamin, the Omega supplement, and getting outside to sit in the sun, (when we HAVE sun) for awhile each day.

As time goes forward for you, you will feel more clear headed, the dizziness will diminish, as will the head zaps, and since we are coming into Spring, I think you will find yourself wanting to get out more, do some walking, and in general, take better care of YOU. All of those things combined will likely help your overall health. Again, it doesn't happen overnight, but I think in 2 weeks or so, you will look back and be amazed at how far you have come.

I gained a good ten pounds from Cymbalta and din't realize it was the Cymbalta why I couldn't lose the weight. I have been off it now for over a week and have alraedy lost 3 pounds. My appetite has returned to normal without carb and sugar cravings at night. I am getting just one head rush a day but it is slowing down. The headaches are getting less and less frequent. I wish everyone well in getting off this drug. I almost feel normal again. !! :P

O.k. I know I haven't lost weight, but I actually gained weight since quitting. I lost weight (about 10 pounds) while taking cymbalta. Seems quite the opposite of what most people have experienced. Although I haven't gained a lot, maybe 4 or 5 pounds. Interesting.....I'm bumming because the weight is coming back. Hang in there guys. It will take time...
