Hi,

I am male person, I started on Cymbalta, 7 yrs back for fibromyalgia, Doctor asked me to do 30mg Twice a day, but whenever I tried 30mg twice a day it gave me bad stomach cramps. So for last 7 yrs I am basically doing 30mg a day.

3 yrs back we decided to have a baby. Before conceiving, I asked doctor if me taking cymbalta can effect the baby and he said no. After 3 yr's,  now we came to know the kid has Autism. And I blame me taking cymbalta. I decided to wean of cymbala. This is how I had did so far. The 30mg capsule I take has 6 beads

- For first week I took 3 beads each day (did not noticed any difference in may, may be some fatigue)
- For Second week I took 2 beads each day (more fatigue)

- Third week 1 bead (lot of fatigue, brain zaps in second half of the day, not able to sleep nicely)
- Forth week no beads (Lot of anxiety, fear, heart palpation, Eye twitching, constant brain zaps, pain in hand, nausea, muscle twitch in legs, not able to focus, and take care of kid and family).

While tapering off - I took glutathione, and N-acetyl cysteine, to increase Antioxidant level, and reduce Oxidative Stress (I was giving this to my son to help him with Autism symptoms).
But I am feeling missreable. Every night I feeling, is it going to end, or am I going to die.

Saw this site today,

Please suggest and advice.

Hi Guptasan and welcome,

I am sorry to hear of the developments as they have occurred. Unfortunately, these things can never be proven - just as my father's Parkinson's cannot be proven to be a result of 25 years on Prozac.

Long story short, you went WAY too quick off the dose.

Unfortunately, you had what we here refer to as the "big bead" caps. Most come with between 150-300 tiny beads which can be reduced a lot easier. If all you have access to as the big beads then there are ways of making this work, but the pertinent question here is how long ago did you stop? When was this fourth week?

If it was within the last couple of weeks or so, then go back on 2 beads and stabalise. No more, as this could have equally adverse effects.

It may well take a good 7-10 days to start to feel the benefits of re-dosing.

We can then go through a tapering plan once you are feeling a bit more like yourself,

IUN

OK - back on the 2 beads as soon as possible. I might suggest you taking them 12 hours apart as this will even out the blood levels and overall set you up for a better withdrawal.

Others will be along tomorrow with more support/advice, but for now, we need to get you stable. Hang in there - you are in the right place now! But if you can source a supply of smaller bead caps, that would be a sure advantage to the situation.

Welcome Guptasan. It looks like IUN has gotten you off to a good start. Hang in there.

I would like to add that you might want to read over our ebook as well. It contains info on what members have tried, there reactions to them, medical research articles and much more. It also has a section of medical research on the link between autism and antidepressants.

Feel free to ask questions or just come here to vent your frustration and fears. We understand. We have been where you are at as well.
