Hello Oldtimer

That is a very fast wean even with the help of Prozac. Most take 6 to 8 months to wean. Do you plan on staying on the Prozac or weaning off of it too later?  Keep us posted on yoyur progress.

Just an FYI Hat - I had a PM with Oldtimer as he was having issues using the site and obviously established the very fast wean, and have suggested the use of Omega for the zaps, Theanine or Ashwagandha to start the neuro healing - and potentially CBD.

But glad you have managed to get a post here Oldtimer.

Hat asks a pertinent question - is the Prozac a permanent replacement or a means to removing the symptoms that Cymbalta has left you with?

It was the plan to stay on the Prozac to treat my depression. So far it hasn’t help. This is the third week on 20mg. Yesterday the doc bumped itt to 30mg. Is this deep Depression and anxiety normal? I’ve never felt anxiety like this. I did Have tms treatments months back which gave me a bout of anxiety.

The depression and anxiety is a well known symptom of Cymbalta withdrawal. It can be very severe and last a year or more. It can actually lead to suicide if Cymbalta is weaned to fast or quit cold turkey.  Also, remember that Prozac takes 6 to 8 weeks to kick in so you will need to be patient. Hang in there.

Yes, we are aware of the Facebook page.

Hat has said it all - the cold turkey approach to cymbalta has had some very upsetting and scary results, so whilst it is not easy to think this way, this is a result of a chemical imbalance. You wouldn't run a marathon as soon as you had the cast off a broken leg - the same applies here, but this is what has happened as a result of the cold turkey.

Again, we are aware of the Facebook page. Hat and myself don't really like social media for a number of reasons, which is why we prefer our own little corner of the Internet here.

Today was very rough. Had a low I didn’t think was possible. Fortunately my wife is riding this out with me. I wanted to be locked up today.

Hat was talking purely statistics here, so please don't consider it as a potential for your current condition. He always has everyone's best intentions in his writing.

I am really sorry to hear that your day was rough - and if it is any consolation, I remember thinking exactly the same... "can this really get much worse?". It can seem unbearable, but these are the times when you find out just how resilient we can be. So glad that you have your wife there to help you.

The perspective is what needs to be found here. Your brain is NOT you, any more than your arm, or your leg. If you broke your leg, you would be resting up, not able to use it and wait for it to heal. But this is your brain, not your leg. Resting your brain is not something that can be easily done! We use it all the time!

If this were your leg, you would be frustrated.. "I want to walk, I walk to stand....!". Now for your brain... "I want to think straight, I don't want to be depressed". The scenario is the same, but it is because the brain is an organ that we cannot readily disassociate with (in the leg example, it would be like we keep trying to walk making things worse), and this is why you are feeling the way you are. It is a SYMPTOM. It will pass.

Please take a look around the forum. We have thousands of posts of people who have been through just what you are going through - Hat and myself included. Both of our stories are on here, but you will see how we both found the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. You will make it my friend...

God Bless

Oh how I remember those days. The wife use to set up with me for hours at night holding me and giving me support. It does past but as IUN said, it is a marathon and not a sprint.
