I will clarify, My Husband took his own life on July 14,2009 after abrubtly disconting Cymbalta, but still kept taking his Ambien CR. I Need all the information I can fnd on these two drugs and my web-searching actually brought me to your web-site. Thank you...Please read my full story on the Post of Ambien and Cymbalta CR.

It is unwise to go cold turkey from any psychotropic medication as brain chemicals / receptors have been altered and it takes time for the brain to return to its normal state.

It would be helpful if we knew why you were asking.

Am trying to get off Cymbalta 30mg and wondering about brain zaps.

I just accidentally clicked on sweetchild's info, and she has posted that it's in regard to her husband, who has stopped taking medication abruptly.

Sweetchildof61, sorry if we sound brief, but there are 'reports' that those with something to gain from people staying on Cymbalta come onto boards like this scaremongering. I'm not suggesting that's you, just that given that that topic has come up recently here, it may be helpful if you share more information with us.

Have no doubt that you will find heaps of support and advice here.

kind regards, Maureen.

Hi Sweetchildof61,

I'm so sorry to hear of your story. I don't know a lot about anti-depressants, but I DO know that there is an increased risk in some people with some brands. For you to be ignored when you went looking for help sounds inexcusable.

As I said earlier, I don't know enough about the drug combinations, but had seen others post here who were on that combination, and from the replies it would appear that it's not generally considered a problem.

I think if I were you I'd be pointing the finger at Cymbalta, and the people who disregarded the cries for help.

So hard to lose the person with whom you had so much history, and so much to look forward to with.

kind regards,

Maureen.

Hi Debbie, I didn't mean here, I meant when Sweetchild61 and her husband were looking for support from doctors and hospitals and didn't get what they needed.

Sorry if my sentence sounded like I meant this board. :(

I am so sorry about your husband.  I know it was two years ago but you are probably still greiving and angry. My son was killed in a car accident 6 days after abruptly stopping Cymbalta,  He drank a bottle rum, ravaged his apartment, called me to say good bye, went for a drive without his seatbelt, and rolled his car. The police termed it an "accident."  We and Eli Lilly know better. Please help us warn people and save lives!

Dear brokenheart

I know that the pain of losing a child is the worst to bear. I lost my daughter in 2009. I truly hope that someday Eli Lilly has to pay for all the loved ones it has taken away from so many families with their evil drug.

Why are those in the medical profession not made aware of the problems with both taking and stopping this drug. It is not right that this should be allowed.

Take care of you

I am so sorry. warning people is the best way to raise awareness, your son would be proud of you.

Dear Lady Nancy,

I am so sorry you too have suffered so much pain and loss. I completely agree with you about Eli Lilly and doctors who believe their propaganda over there patients complaints.

I'm going to file complaints with the FDA but feel pretty powerless to do more.

My thoughts are with you.
