I started Cymbalta 3 or 4 years ago.. I can't recall which exactly. They had me up as high as a 120mg dose, but when I decided to go off of it I was on a 60mg.

I took it too long and feel vague about how long that was -- isn't that a bit of the old cymbalta effect for you? -- must have been taking it these past 3 years or more! I've not taken it all january and the plus/minus balance so far must be more on the plus side (a small amount of creativite fulfillment outweighs a lot of less fortunate experiences). Isn't that creativity what I see now has been missing this cymbalta-medicated time? However, it IS difficult weathering the loud sounds and vertigo, the sudden and recurrent falling away of emotional stability.

I guess I used it for almost 2 years- I was up to 120 mg. Have been off of it completely for nine days and am experiencing horrible withdrawals. However, I would never go back on it.

I've been using it about 6 months. There was such a startling change in the pain I felt it was like I had my life back. In the mean time, and that's right, I've gotten to where I can't walk down the street or go food shopping without taking a large bite out of some petty "offender's" head. So it's been about 24 hours since I've taken one and I sho do have the heeby-jeebees. I face criminal damages (resulting from a "pain management specialist's office.
I am disabled with chronic pain and I have diabetis, so it was doing a lot for me. Also, I have been on anti-dressants, various and can elaborate, for about 12 - 13 years, with minimal effect except for the first months or so on prozac. So, can anyone fill me out as to the lay of the land?

Bob-

What made you go off of it? I had pain with my depression too and that is why they put me on it in the first place. I have been on a patch called EmSam for about a week now. . . It is about 8 in my list of anti-depressants that I have tried.

For me- the lay of land is- look at the topics- see what you need the most encouragement in. This place has stopped by tears and feelings of isolation on more than one occassion. It sucks having these horrible withdrawals, but it is nice knowing that somewhere- someone understands the pain.

Sweet Bethany, if you are feeling suicidal and confused, please call your doctor, I know you did yesterday and got the typical response of "other people don't experience this" from your doctor. Many of us who post here know how wrong that is.

If you have to, get a cab and sit in your doctor's office until they see you. You have many other prescriptions in your system, I know that you are in pain right now. And I know that you are trying to take an active part in being a healthy human, a right we all have.

But as you said, you are suffering. Help is available, I know that you might not trust your doctor right now, but believe me, if you are in the shape you describe, there is no way that they will not try to help you relieve some of your suffering.

We are all worried for you. Please, do not try to tough this out another day on your own.

I've been on it for about a year and a half. About a year in i started to feel numbed out.. and finally after another six months i was becoming isolated from everyone in my life. I knew i had to quit. Its been two weeks.. i never thought this would happen to me. From what i've read these withdrawals are close to those of herion.. I hope i get through this soon!!
