A very interesting article that discusses an FDA slide presentation, located at http://groups.google... ... 6db0d2749f

The presentation on Cymbalta Discontinuation Syndrome itself located at http://www.fda.gov/d... ... 172866.pdf

I have been on Cymbalta 30mg for 5 days. I can't hack the side effects and want to get off of this drug NOW. I am concerned about the side effects.

HELP!

I have only been on this drug for 5 days and I can not deal with the side effects. I am scared to death about weaning off. Will it be easier since I've only been on it for 5 days? I am not even going to wait until Monday to speak with my doctor. I want off it NOW.

Yes, consult your doctor and yes it should be easier to discontinue cymbalta after 5 days of use as your body has not become too accustomed to it as yet. I'm not a doctor but it did work well for me for several years and it did take I think a week or two to even out in my system before I felt OK with it. But discontinuation definately needs to be done slowly for most folks.

Side effects often disappear once your body adjusts to the drug. ONGOING side effects were what made me want to stop taking Cymbalta.

This is just my guess, but if your body hasn't yet adjusted to Cymbalta, chances are you'll feel better when you don't take it.

One way to find out is to give it a go. If you feel worse, you'll know that taking it again MAY help.

What dose are you taking?

I am taking 30 mg. I have a life-long history of bladder problems and kidney scarring due to uretal reflux. I can't urinate and feel like it's causing a bladder infection. I drink a minimum of 8 large glasses of water each day and I am only emptying my bladder about 5 times per day. I usually empty about 5 times before lunch!

I also have bad headaches and wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep. I do feel better depression wise on Cymbalta, but I have never experienced such rough side effects from ANY drug I've ever taken before.

I have mild depression from stress at work and raising my teen age daughter. Luckily, I don't suffer from debilitating depression.

illinois,
I agree with Maureene, just stop it, it will let you know right away if you will have to
decrease this slowly or not.

What really get's to me is that your doctor would even put you on this knowing you
have bladder problems, as this can cause one to retain urine, or have an over active
bladder. Also headaches are a side effect, sleep problems.

Herre is the site with all the withdrawl symptoms http://prozactruth.com/cymbalta.htm

Also there is a new report that was just posted, it has great, and shocking news about this
drug, and also how it's numbers are doubled compared to Paxil, Effexor, and another as far
as withdrawls. I think I am more afraid of this drug now than I ever was before!

After my having what I thought was incurable depression while taking this drug, I would never
take anything again, and deal with my so callled downs in other ways.

Just keep us posted as what's going on.

Debbie

Debbie's right (ha ha - mutual admiration society :)) )

so many people have posted about fluid retention and bladder problems. I can't really comment because my fluid balance is artificially controlled, and I also take HRT and diclofenac, which can both cause fluid retention, esp the HRT.

I DO know, for certain, that the tight headaches, which feel to me EXACTLY like dehydration headaches (with which I'm all too familiar) are NOT that. They also don't seem to respond well to my usual pain relief of paracetamol. (Can't comment on aspirin, as I don't take it because the diclofenac is a NSAISD.)

regards, Maureen.

I spoke to a pharma rep who sells Cymbalta. I told her I was quitting it due to the side effects. She asked what I was experiencing and when I told her about not being able to urinate, she told me to just stop all meds immediately!

Yes, I am surprised my doctor put me on it with my history of bladder and kidney problems too.

Thank you all for the advice. This drug is a DANGER TO SOCIETY. I hope the rat bastards at Eli Lilly are paying attention to us. I smell a class action suit in the near future.

illinoisChick,
If you havn't read the new post that been put up on the FDA report, then please do.
This drug has surpassed Paxil, and Effexor both of which came out in 1992, and 1993,
or I should say that the numbers have doubled for Cymbalta, and it's only been out
since 2007! Paxil is 500,000, as is Effexor, and Cymbalta in the millions!!!

I am so surprised that the rep told you to stop taking it!! Yes there is a hughe class action coming,
and I don't think it will be too long before we see it on the new's, and reading about it in all the
magazines too!!

Good Luck with everything, glad your got off!

Debbie
