Hubby is having bad anxiety problems due to cymbalta withdrawl

Posted 02 January 2010 - 01:05 AM

Well to recap our crappy ride with Cymbalta.

In Auugust of 08 hubby started seeing a pain dr. In Feb. of 09 was given Cymbalta for pain and small amount of depression. Started out at 30mg then was upped to 60mg and then overnight was upped to 120mg to help with pain. From 0-120 was taken to the hospital 3-4 different by me and the ambulance from work. Nine days after the dosage was put at 120 he was taken away from our home by ambulance two different times the second time he had stoped breathing and turned blue.

We were then told it was Epilepsy. Wich it wasn't. and now know it was Cymbalta. 11 days after the seziure he was told to drop from 120 to 60 overnight then after a week drop down to 30 then to go cold turkey. His mood was so bad I had him see a psyc dr and he put him on Citalopram. This was in May by September the dr had him up to 80mg and wanted him to go to 100mg and he refused but stayed at the 80. Hubby took himself off that slowly and was down to 30mg when dr put him down to 20mg and now start taking EFFEXOR. Wants him taking 3 37.5 tablets is only taking 2.

His short term memory is gone. When he starts to have a panic or anxiety attack he snaps at me and some times he just snaps bitting my head off and doesn't even remember doing it.

So that is where I sit right now. Not sure how I put one foot infrount of the other but I do. I am an emotional wreck and I don't know when that will go away. I am sure it is when hubby gets better but now going on 9 months of this and hubbys job loss I don't think it will get better. I think I need to just accept him for what he is now and move forward.
