I went CT from 60mg and I suffered symptoms very similar to yours - regurgitating and just.. yeah, I had to eat very light for about 2 weeks. For me it started on Day 4 with severe upper abdo pain. Mine improved gradually over the two weeks and eventually settled. I found I was able to gradually increase my diet over that time.

Hopefully it will settle for you as quickly as it did for me.

Good luck

Hi Nancy

Generally speaking doctors are in the dark about the difficulty many people have withdrawing from, not only Cymbalta, but all modern antidepressants. Plus the weaning schedules they give people are just plain wrong. For one thing, most people find dropping from 60-30mg in one go is just too much. Second, this 'every other day thing' just doesn't work. Because anti-depressants change the way our brain functions, you can't go playing with the dose and expect to not feel anything. Decreasing the dose brings on withdrawal and increasing it again means the body has to adjust to the higher dose. By doing this 'every other day', you are putting your brain through a confusing mess of instructions. Why the heck doctors don't realise this is beyond me!!

Since you haven't been off Cymbalta for long, it might be an idea to go back on a low dose - 10mg to start perhaps, you can always increase it again if it's not enough - wait until you are not feeling any more withdrawal effects (probably 3-6 weeks) then start a slow taper. If you dont want to do that, another option is to take Prozac until the worst of the withdrawal subsides. You can then stop the Prozac. Because Prozac has a longer half life, it is said to be easier to come off.

Let us know what you decide. We are here to help.

Am trying to get off Cymbalta 30mg and wondering about brain zaps.

I am slowly weaning myself off of cymbalta because I began to feel terribly worse by taking it. This is the second time I have had a medication bottom out on me(taking the medicine actually made me feel worse). When I was in a terrible amount of pain several weeks ago, I had a conversation with a natural supplements clinician whose husband also had a terrible time with cymbalta. I have been taking a combination of vitamins and supplements that have helped me tremendously so far. I am in the every other day phase and I know it will take time. I have not had the severe symptoms so far.

There are sites of success story for folks who have been able to tolerate supplements through there withdrawal process.

I am so sorry for your illness and will pray diligently for you.

God Bless you,

flg

Great to hear that you seem to be one of the lucky ones without too many problems. Keep in mind that many have done the full supplements thing with little benefit - it may be that you were able to tolerate the drop better than some anyway.

if you do strike problems, the every second day is probably worse than cold turkey, you're actually re-introducing the drug to a body which is trying to adjust to being without it.

Better to take SOME dose every day. Most of us who've had significant withdrawal symptoms have tapered down slowly by dividing the contents of the capsules.

regards, Maureen.
