Hi....

Looking for people who are suffering coming off this drug Cymbalta, and have suffered even while on....... This drug is dangerous and we all need to band together once well, and do whatever we have to in order to get this drug off the market, or at least much greater warnings about what this drug can do to a person....This is scary stuff!!!

Would love to hear from you.

Thanks Rocky

Am trying to get off Cymbalta 30mg and wondering about brain zaps.

I had no problems while on Cymbalta and I think it's a great drug. It helped my mood significantly. Everyone reacts differently to various medications and drugs. I'm allergic to pencillin, but I'm not trying to get that off market. You just have to find what works for you.

It's true that some are helped by Cymbalta; even some who've had a hard time getting off have sometimes gone back on it. Some don't have a problem getting off it.

How would you feel, though, if 'being allergic to penicillin' was NOT a recognized problem, and that each time you were given penicillin and reacted badly, you had medical specialists telling you you were imagining things, or that they'd had lots of patients have no problem, so therefore the problem doesn't exist.

I'm not joining those arguing for getting it off the market either. Reason being I/we don't have the faintest idea what percentage of people have serious problems. As I mentioned the other day, it would need thousands of people who'd been on a reasonable dose for at least a year, divided into several categories, each withdrawing a different way for any useful information to be available.

Anecdotal evidence (goggle searches etc) would indicate that Cymbalta is (one of) the worst in terms of withdrawal. This is the fact which needs to be acknowledged by the drug company, and professionals. My GP won't touch in again with a ten foot pole, just in case the next patient has the same problem as I had.

regards, Maureen.

I am currently on Cymbalta after many years of other drugs including Zoloft, Wellbutrin and Effexor. I had a terrible experience coming off of Effexor that resulted only in my going back on, then changing to Cymbalta. I feel, at this point, that the drugs are causing as many problems as the initial depression did, and am looking at the possibility of coming off but am living this year in rural Italy and need some real support in considering this possibility and its consequences.

I'm not for getting it off the market either, for the same reasons as Maureen. Much more important for me, would be to get the company, and all pharmaceutical companies that market anti-depressants, to develop reliable protocols for helping customers with safe, effective cessation.

Curently on day 6 of stopping "cold turkey"
    Just looking for some support.

I experienced my first panic attack 10 years ago and during the last 10 years, I have tried, zoloft, buspar, effexor, pristiq and now cymbalta. The one that worked for me was effexor and I had to get off of it because I became pregnant and it's a class C drug? The experience was the absolute worst. I was in bed for days and would wake up with my shirt drenched in sweat. After my child was born, I experienced post partum and did eveything I could to not take the meds. Last year was awful and my Dr. put me on Pristiq-100 mg. the max. I felt OK not much better. I started eatting excessivly, gained weight and was more upset than ever with crying spells for no reason. In the last month, he put me on Cymbalta and I didn't feel any better. I was snappy, angry, crying, tired and knew something had to change. I decided to go off cold turkey 5 days ago and have been crying, dizzy, night sweats etc. I went to an acupuncturist and feel like she knew everything that was wrong with me. She said no more gluten, no artificial sweetners, no alcohol and she gave me 2 herbs-Chai Hu Jai Long Mu Tang Therapeutic Actions:
Treats:
o Anxiety disorder, Migraines, Insomnia with vivid dreams
o Hypertension, Hyperthyroidism, Palpitations
o Withdrawal from medications, alcohol, cigarettes or other drugs
o Nausea, Vomiting, Neurosis, Chronic fatigue syndrome
and Gan Mai Da Zao Tang-Gan Mai Da Zao Tang:
Applications - Disorientation, frequent attacks of melancholy and crying spells, inability to control oneself, restless sleep (sometimes with night sweats), frequent bouts of yawning.
Notes: Good for use after loss of a loved one or break-up.

It's only been a few days but trying these natural herbs and getting off the chemicals, I'm willing to try anything to feel better.

I hope you feel better too. Look into it.

I have been thinking about alternative practices. I am on day 10 of cold turkey and tho there is a lot of pain, I have had some periods of "clarity" and I can feel my "thinking" getting clearer. So thank you for the herbal remedies. I meditate every day and am starting a Tai Chi class to help with the coordination issues I am having.
Again thanks for the info.
