I am a sufferer of depression and GAD.

Posted 04 April 2010 - 10:14 PM

Ive been on cymbalta for about 9 months for help with my fibromyalgia. I stopped cold turkey from a 60mg a day cymbalta and a small dose of amitryptalyne (which was used to help with the insomnia from cymbalta) about 6 days ago. I can deal with the brain zaps and the sweating constantly and the crying, but I cannot deal with the feeling of them all at once and thingking i'm slowly dying! Oh and the newest symptom of withdrawl is the non-stop trips to the bathroom. Ive never experienced anything like this in my life. please tell me it will start getting better before it gets any worse? How long until I feel like a normal person again???

Why did you go cold turkey? This is not recommended, not even by the drug companies themselves! And especially not from TWO anti-depressants at the same time.

These drugs chemically alter brain function. By stopping them suddenly you have thrown your brain chemistry into chaos. Seriously, it is not wise to continue the way you are. In fact, it is dangerous. Get back on both drugs at the dose you were on, then taper off slowly. Taper off one drug at a time so your brain chemistry can adjust slowly.

And.. this really should be done under medical supervision. Even if you don't agree with what your doctor tells you (a common occurrence here). That way they will be aware of what you are doing if something bad happens.

Kind Regards
Junior
