I began a few months ago to taper off from cymbalta. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and wanted to try to be with out meds for awile. I have anxiety/panic disorder that can sometimes bring on depression. Anyway I have been on and off meds since I was 19 I am now 32 and have been on cymbalta for at least four years. It worked well except for libido issues and other problems here and there. Presently I have told my Doc that I want off because of all of the horrible things it can cause not to mention I would like to try to have a healthy baby. I started with 60 mgs. and tapered down to 30mgs not that much of a difference there but as I lowered the dose every 14 days down a little more each time by opening the caps and emptying some out this was when I strated feling the effects. Crying agitation the zaps feeling like my head was in a balloon.
Now It has been three months since I had tapered. I stopped completely 3 1/2 weeks ago and I feel like I am dying. I have had panic attacks at least once a day if not more for no reason. I am trying to continue with work and life in general but it is difficult. My withdrawl effects seem to be nausea, headaches, shaky, loss of energy, agitation, crying a lot, not wanting to get up, angry and tired but can't sleep, feeling like I am going to be sick -probably because of the panic attacks.
I am hoping this gets better it has been 3 and a half weeks without it I hope it is just withdrawls and not just me. Does anyone know if there is an end in sight?

Beth, have you told your doctor how bad you are still feeling? I'm 17 days out, and have some residual issues, but overall, feel much better. There are others that were as far out as 40 days and still felt bad and were placed on low doses of other antis to help them. Please read through some of the other posts to see what has worked for others, and then speak with your doctor. You can get through this, and while it isn't an easy thing to do, and may not happen overnight, you can do it. You may need to be placed on something else to help with the panic disorder, and it is best to work with your doctor on that. Also, since you may need to be on meds, you may want to consult with a high risk OBGYN, as they have experience working with situations out of the norm.

If after reading through some posts under "weaning from Cymbalta", you still have questions, please don't hesitate to come back and post. There are many people here who will jump in and offer support and encouragement for you. Just remember, most of the bad feelings are the effect of the drug leaving your body.
