Coming off cymbalta after 3 years

Posted 24 May 2010 - 04:32 PM

I just wanted to advise anyone who is weaning OR going CT, to TELL folks around them! I told my closest friends, and a couple of understanding colleagues, and some family members that I trust. I wanted them to know what I am doing, so that if I get wonkier than usual (heh heh - who might even tell?) that they had my permission to intervene.

I have a good network of supportive friends, so I am very fortunate, and do not feel all alone in this.

SO TELL EVERYONE YOU CAN! Or at least some close buds you are comfy with.

As for Dr. Idiot, my prescribing psych? The dimwit hasn't even as much as returned my call. My pharma is more on notice with me, for crying out loud!

So TELL people who love and care for you - so if you DO cry for help, it is ripe and ready for you.

My doctor is the same way - it may be the way his office is set up, I don't know. Frustrates me to no end as well.

I told my therapist about the Cymbalta w/d. She told me, w/o giving names, of course, about another patient who just started taking it, and was having the awful symptoms already. She told the other patient to be careful and keep in touch with their doctor.

I have said it before - my beloved has been such a help to me. The first night I was really bad sick - he stayed up almost all night just to check on me and make sure I had what I needed. Without support I do not think I could do this.

Thanks for your thoughts. It is so good to know we are here for each other.
