I am currently on Cymbalta after many years of other drugs including Zoloft, Wellbutrin and Effexor. I had a terrible experience coming off of Effexor that resulted only in my going back on, then changing to Cymbalta. I feel, at this point, that the drugs are causing as many problems as the initial depression did, and am looking at the possibility of coming off but am living this year in rural Italy and need some real support in considering this possibility and its consequences.

I can't say what's going to happen but you seem to be doing really well. Maybe you'll be fine.

So around 1 month ago I decided to wean off Cymbalta after 2 years because we'd like to have a baby. I was on 30 milligrams. I did the "open the capsule and count the beads" method. I decided to do the deed in 3 weeks. So I counted the total # of beads in a capsule and divided by 21. Each day I decreased a little until I got to nothing. Was it tedious and super annoying? Yes! But it was totally worth it.

For the most part things went really well! I had almost no symptoms during this time (there were a couple minor headaches and mild fogginess, but nothing major). And my mood was great! The only time I had issues was during my period, I thought I was gonna lose it. But I journaled during this time and it really helped me keep things in perspective to see if my feelings were normal or out of control. I mean, it is great to FEEL again. For so long I've felt numb and now it's like I'm back to life! One thing that did help I think was up my dose of vitamins big time.

Anyway, I am still doing really well, and I'm wondering if I'm home free. How long does this stuff stay in you? I'm not gonna crash any day now am I? I don't think I will, but a couple people have suggested it might not be out of my system yet. So I thought I'd get some feedback...anyone had any experience with this?

That is great that you are doing well. In my case, I was feeling nearly normal after 10 days. I had a small relapse, but I think it was from how fast I "weaned" off it. As I've said before - it really stinks that there isn't a set time for getting over withdrawal... It sounds like you are doing everything you can to get through it. Keep on keepin' on!!! B)
