Man, this is rich. After a month, I finally feel pretty much normal. Except at the doctor I realized I'm SO heavy. Honestly, I'm eating better than ever, and exercising faithfully. Does going off Cymbalta make you gain weight, even if you're no longer hogging down? Im desperate.

It is hard to say. I've read that some people gained weight while taking it, and then lost after coming off. But I've also read just the opposite is true for others. It seems that it must be doing something to that pleasure center of the brain, or something like that, and we each react differently.

Many here had severe nausea during withdrawal, and I experienced none of it. For me, I'm going to go with the flow until my mental state feels stable, then attack the weight thing. One thing and one day at a time.

I can relate to your weight gain. I have not changed my eating habits but I am about 30lbs heavier since I quit taking the medicine. Which I didn't need in the first place. I was overweight to begin with. I hope I can lose the weight but I don't know how much less I can eat without effecting my blood sugar and health. But I am going to give it a try. If I can muster up enough energy I want to try to start walking everyday. Who knows maybe the exercise will help in more ways than one. So, hang in there. Once this poison is out of our systems maybe we can get back to a normal weight.

I sure hope so! I kept thinking that all of my clothes were shrinking. I'm not kidding, that is how oblivious I was to this! One day I finally noticed that I have more "face" :? than I used to, and figured out that I was indeed gaining too much weight! Still, I feel better when I eat 3 meals, and for some reason, carbs make me feel better, and protein is getting harder for me to digest! Too bad, because I lost a lot of weight some years back following a high protein low carb diet. I don't think that is going to work for me this time. I seem to have heartburn, and feeling of fullness all the time, even when I feel hungry. Strange.

I too, feel hungry all the time, even when my stomach is full. I gained 30lbs on Cymbalta, but I've ravenous and want to eat everything in sight now. This is not, nor ever was a problem for me, but Cymbalta withdrawals have changed that. No clothes fit! I have ALL the other symptoms that everyone else have mentioned and some that they don't. This is the most bizarre medication I've personally ever encountered! The emotional roller coaster (rage;anger) is the worst, because it is the furthest from who I am. It's frightening. Does anyone know when all of this ends? Brain zapping, chills, extreme "hot flashes", rage, inability to concentrate, ravenous hunger, etc?

I'm into day 28, and the night sweats have stopped, in fact I can actually use my electric blanket when it is cold! The zaps are still with me, but very minimal compared to what they were. I'm also not feeling as many extreme rage/anger moments as I was at first. I do get angry quickly, but I think I always have, yet I have been able to grab it and keep it under control, whereas a week or so ago, I coudn't even do that. (Just ask the only living thing in my house, which is my poor dog!)

I am continuing with the Omega 3 supplements, and I find this interesting; Friday, I had to take a trip that I thought would bring me home in 4 hours tops, so I didn't take the Omega 3 before I left. I was unable to get home for several hours, so I was about 5 hours late taking it, and I've felt a little worse since then. Now, it could all be my imagination, but I'm going to be sure to take it at the same time every day. I really do believe it is helping me with some of the unpleasant side effects.

Hang in there, it will get better, just not overnight. Have you talked to your doctor? It may be that you need to take something else for awhile to help you with this. Please post back to let me know.

I have found a sight that has a diet for those of us that have weight problems during or after taking an antidepressant. I haven't tried it yet. I need to buy the supplements they require you to take. The address is http://www.theroadba...weight_loss.htm Just reading it has helped me. Here's hoping the diet will help also. It is interesting to read. Check it out if you have time.
