In the future I would like to stop cymbalta

Posted 24 June 2010 - 03:18 PM

Hello All:
I have been weaning slowly of cymbalta. In 6 weeks I was down to 25mg from 60mg. I was so excited.
I am taking many pills (cymbalta, my diabetic med and vitamins and minerals). Today I made a huge mistake. I was supposed to take my multivitamin this morning and instead I took 1 pill of CYMBALTA!!!!!!!!!!! AGHRRRRRRR. I was soooooooo mad to be so dumb to do this. But I think the weaning has made me to lose my concentration. And I got the pills all mixed up.

That means that I took a 25mg cymbalta pill last night at 10:00pm and another 25mg cymbalta pill this morning. That adds 50mg!!!! I am sooo mad!.....What should I do???? should I skip the pill tonight??? or take it?

Please I need your advice

Not sure what I'd do under those circumstances. Think I'd say the same as Debbie, though. Just be prepared to be a bit out of sorts. By the time you're back to a few days in a row of regular doses you should be right. Wouldn't be the time to attempt any further reduction though.

regards, Maureen.

Dear Debbie & Maureen:
Thank you so much for your quick responses. I read your recommendations, gave a lot of thought, and this is what I decided:
I was scared to skip my night´s dosage (have never skipped dosage in these 5 years). Since I took 50mg on thursday
I decided to take a 20mg pill last night (it is 5mg lower than the dosage I took this week which was 25mg).

Today I´m feeling fine.
The weird thing is that I had taken 25mg all this week, and yesterday took 50mg and didn´t feel well (very lethargic). I guess my system is getting used to low cymbalta!!

Debbie thank you for asking how I felt today!

Hugs
