    trying to come off cymbalta

Posted 04 July 2010 - 12:53 PM

I have been on Cymbalta fo 2 months, first 2 weeks at 30 mg then on 60 mg. It has been working well for me but the cost is $135 (CDN) for 4 weeks. I cannot afford this for long. It is not covered under my drug plan. I stopped taking Cymbalta , last dose was 60 mg. about 50 hours, so far I am doing OK. BP is normal, some sweating spells and lightheadedness, but this is not really abnormal for me. Back to work tomorrow and am hoping not to have any withdrawal symptoms, when do these usuaslly occur if they do. If depreesion reoccurs will see about Effexor, as this is what my Pharmacist recommends, covered by my drug plan. Am I out of the woods yet, or do I have to worry about withdrawal?

Thank you for any help. Cannot afford to have symptoms of withdrawal at work.

Dear Kathy:
Good to hear you are off cymbalta with no withdrawal symptoms. It is great to go from 90mg to zero without suffering any side effects. You are very lucky. I guess everybody is different
I´m sure the Seroquel is also helping and giving you additional support.

Hi Kathy:
It is shocking to hear that your doctor told you, you could reduce from 90mg to 0 in a week!!!
It has taken me 8 weeks to go from 60mg to 20mg (and still with some withdrawal symptoms).
Yes this blog has also been SO helpful for me. I am glad that people like you share her story on this kind of web. Since usually all the stories I read here are about horrible withdrawal symptoms, makes me think that everybody suffers from withdrawals, I guess there is another percentage that don´t.

Please keep us updated on your progress and next weeks.
And later about how you feel without Seroquel.
My last question is, I deduced you took cymbalta for depression. Once you quit ALL this meds, what are you going to do to give support for your depression?? I am looking for alternative therapies once I am off meds....any suggestion???
Hugs
