To speak to others about symptoms

Posted 07 July 2010 - 04:03 AM

Okay i am new to this forum but i have some idea on how you guys are feeling due to the symptoms of withdrawal.
I ran out of my Cymbalta medication that i was taking which was 60 mg a day. I have been taking this medication for about a month after coming off of another antidepressant. I tried calling in my prescription but never got word back from the pharmacy on if they had received the order. I felt fine for the first few days of not taking the medication and after about the third day i started having really bad vertigo and everytime i turned my eyes to the left or right i could hear zapping sounds and my body begins to feel as if i am sea sick. On the Fourth night which coincendatally was the Fourth of July i began to feeling nasious and couldnt stomach the really good bbq that was given to me at a party. I knew something serious was going on when i could barely see the road on the way home. On the Fifth day i could barely get out of bed, the dizziness was intense and i felt as if i was ready to throw up any second. I never was able to come to that point to throw up but i was close enough to it. I made it through the day by laying in bed and keeping my eyes as motionless as possible. On the sixth day i had an appointment to see my doctor and on the way to her office i had to battle the brain zaps and vertigo that i was having while attempting to drive there. My eyes had to be squinted the entire drive to her and on top of that i felt as if there was this haze or cloudiness that i could not see through. I finally made it to here office and right when i began to mention all my symptoms she asked me what medication i was taking again and i told her Cymbalta. She turned to me and sayed of course theres your problem right there. All of these symptoms are from withdrawal. She basically told me she couldn't do anything for me until i got back on the pills. I figured this much but i want off of the pills. If she would have told me about the side affects before i would have never started them to begin with. I feel so cheated because in the past i was given prozac to take and people always encouraged me not to take any antidepressants but here i am taking cymbalta and having the worst feelings of witdrawal ever. O how i wish i could turn back the hands of time and not take these pills. Do and yof you guys have any suggestions as to what to do from here. Its only been a month and if this is what it feels like after a month i want off of these pills.

Help!

You doctor's right - you must go back on to Cymbalta and wean slowly, or put up with the current symptoms for as long as it takes for them to subside. Expect it to take a few months before you feel perfectly well again.

Read lots of posts - stories like yours are repeated constantly on this site, and the responses we've all given.

regards, Maureen.

Thanks for the reply i really hate having to take the doctors orders. I feel as if im being treated as some sort of threat to her own agenda. She offered me free of charge medication so that way Libby will fit the bill. I hate feeling like some sort of guinea pig.

I guess ill wait to see if the symptoms will decrease in the next few months. Ill keep you guys updated.
