theroadback.org This is a great help to me as I wean off of Cymbalta 60mg. :D I am interested in knowing if anyone else has used this resource. I printed the whole book (free, thank God). And it is very enlightening and full of information that I probably wouldn't have gotten from my pdoc. Please, if your weaning, just take a quick look and see if doesn't help you. Let me know how it goes.....Shakey P.S. Tomorrow I go cold turkey from the bupropion 150mg (not the best call) and I have just started weaning very very gradually from the aforementioned demon drug Cymbalta....lol

When I started this process, I did go to that site, and it seemed to have a lot of good information, however I was such a wreck, that I simply couldn't wrap my head around all of the instructions. I did buy a good Omega 3 supplement, and a good protein drink, but that was all I could glean from the information, as my brain just couldn't grasp it all.

Now, I do recall them talking about cold turkey, and many here will say they don't recommend it, and I believe that theroadback doesn't either. I realize that Wellbutrin is a different class of drug than Cymbalta, but I would be very hesitant to try to cold turkey that one while dealing with withdrawals from Cymbalta. Are you also working with a doctor during this? I think it is a good idea for them to be aware of what you are doing, just in case you find yourself needed some immediate assistance; at least they won't be in the dark.

Please, use caution if you decided to procede, and know that we are here for you.

I have a psychiatrist and I know he doesn't want me off the meds but........ The only reason I'm doing the bupropion cold turkey is because I haven't found any serious withdrawal symptoms related to it (yeah, like I'm so smart..right..lol). Also I am going to return to my full dose of Cymbalta minus approx. 70 pellets from each capsule and then wean a little slower. I was trying the measuring cup method mentioned in The Road Back but it left too many pellets on the bottom of the cup and I was tapering a lot more than I thought. I'm middle aged and tired of living under the control of meds. I am working out my bipolar through therapy etc. though. Shakey...

I found the road back information about a week into Cymbalta withdrawal. I could not make heads nor tails of it at that time. I could not even see straight at that time. I have since read some of it and find it useful. I hope that many people find that information before they come off of any antidepressant.

Bupropion is what some people take to quit smoking (aka Zyban). I am no doctor, but when people are prescribed it to quit smoking, they take it and just stop. I know a couple of people who did this and they did not go through wtihdrawals, but they only took it for a couple of months and I have no idea what the dosage was. Those were some of my friends that during the worst of Cymbalta withdrawal for me were really not able to understand what was going on with me.

I do understand not wanting to take any drugs at all, but please go slow. Perhaps give yourself a week off of the bupropion and see how you feel before starting the Cymbalta taper. And, your doctor should be your partner in health, I hope that you do find that you can talk to him/her and discuss the reasons that you no longer wish to take Cymbalta and bupropion.
