Sigh, I need advice... I have been on Cymbalta 60mg in morning and 60mg in evening. I have just found out i am pregnant and the Doctor said i must stop with immediate effect... this was 4 days ago... i am feeling terrible? Is this not doing any harm to my baby?

Dear LisaS:
It is hard for me to give you an answer, I am not a doctor. Check in the insert on cymbaltas package if it says something about pregnancy.

When being pregnant it is better not to take antidepressants. If I were you I would rather detox myself from this med.

However what worries me is that you are quitting from such a high dose (120mg) and dropping cold turkey to zero might bring withdrawal symptoms. I do not think these symptoms that you are having will harm the baby, they will make you feel bad, but I think not the baby. (Again, I am not a doctor, it is just my opinion).

From this site I learned, that the best way to stop cymbalta is by weaning slowly. Since your doctor adviced you to stop cymbalta, please ask him, what he will recommend to diminish withdrawal symptoms

try to inform others of an easier way to detox from Cymbalta that they can live life a bit more "normal".

I have been researching withdrawals and the many symptoms from Cymbalta and all I can say is you can not be on the antidepressant when you are in your 3rd trimester, yet you can NOT just stop taking the med as it will abort your fetus. DO NOT follow your Dr's advice of "just stopping it", you will be sorry and feel as if you are crazy and the world is all against you, as the side effects bring you into a deep depression, nausea, vomitting, anger, many emotional and physical side effects I am forgetting but you will know as soon as you start to taper off or stop taking the Cymbalta. If you are taking this drug all I can say is I pray the man above has his arms wrapped around you and that baby that nothing happens to either one of you due to this evil drug!!
