To help in my weaning process.

I've been on Cymbalta 30mg for about 18 months now. Last week I went to the Dr. to discuss coming off. As per her instruction, I started the every other day dose plan. Well, as I discovered and as I've read on this forum, that's not such a hot plan. She did say that if the side effects were too intense that she could prescribe the 20mg dose and go from there. So, my question for someone is this, has anyone moved from 30mg to 20mg, and if so how were the side effects?

Also, last night, I had THE strangest dream I've ever had (yesterday was my no dose day). I had an out of body experience where I was floating up in my room, towards my ceiling fan. My wife had to wake me up three times because I was yelling in my sleep. It seemed so real. Coming off these medications is weird to say the least. Anyone else have these sort of dreams before, because of Cymbalta, not any other influence :)

That looks so strange typed out.

Yes I had the and are having the very vivid dreams like you. I went from 60 to 30 to 20. The dreams were the start of the side effects. I'm not a doctor but from what I have gone through I would suggest coming off them slowly as everyone has explained on here. I stopped by weaning the same way you did. It's been 3 weeks and the side effects are still here and have been so bad I have missed time from work. I printed several things from the internet and post from here talking about how to lower the doses and took them to my doctor. He had never heard of Discontinuation Syndrome. Hopefully what I took him will help his decision in telling other people to tapper of day by day.
Hope things get better for you,

In the future I would like to stop cymbalta

Dear Tommy:
I think it will be better to take 20mg everyday than taking 30mg every other day.
I have weaned from 30mg to 20mg, by doing weekly drops of 2,5mg, you can find all my symptoms in my post "Starting the Journey". When I got to 20mg I had to take a break from weaning because symptoms were hitting me harder.

It´s weird because I had nightmares when taking full dose of cymbalta. Since I started weaning, dreams haven´t been that weird. I even got a pleasant one days ago. However I´ve read on this site many people having nightmares while weaning or quitting.

Hugs

Hey guys, thanks for the information. I wish I had never started these meds. And actually, the odd thing was, we discovered a few weeks later that my depression was being caused by Hypothyroidism and low testosterone. I should have dropped Cymbalta back then, but my doc thought it best to continue just in case. It sucks that this chemical is so embedded. I'm getting it out one way or the other, I will not take these meds anymore. Tired of working in a fog. Thanks again for all your advice.

Hi Tommy, I am now one week on 30 mg down from 60 mg and every night I am dreaming the wierdest stuff. I have had some good dreams but mostly bad ones. I am trying to hang in there and hope that eventually I will feel like myself again.
