I am currently weaning off of Cymbalta and looking for support.

Hi there, I have been on 20mg of Cymbalta for at least five years, Welbutrin and Prozac prior to that so this stuff has been in my system for close to 12 years now. I have tried to stop before and found the withdrawal symptoms intolerable. I am determined to get off of this stuff once and for all. Last weekend I split all of my 20mg capsules into 10mg capsules so I officially started the process last Saturday. I haven't had any brain zaps or mouth numbness yet which I did experience when I tried to quit before however, I have had a constant low grade headache, runny nose and slightly sore throat/ears and tiredness since Sunday. It's like having a cold that doesn't get any worse and doesn't get any better. Does this sound like withdrawal symptoms? The headache I could see but the sore throat/ears are new to me.

Also, for withdrawal headaches - has aspirin helped anyone?

Thanks!

Hi there,

I have just recieved your email about weaning off this drug. Everyone has different symptoms and yes those symptoms I have heard of cold like symptoms especially headaches. Hang in there they will go away but it does take time.
I have been weaning off for about 4 weeks now I actually take out only 5 beads every 5 days and stay at that mg for the 5 day period it has been going great hardly anything because I am doing it so slowly.
Don't be in any rush to get off of them the slower you go the less withdrawals you will experience.
I have been on cymbalta for two years now, started taking them after my last child was born. I tried coming off of them last year and it was a bad idea doing it cold turkey especially when I was getting married within two months of coming off of them..lol I almost called off the whole wedding etc...
I went right back on the 30mg I was perscribed and stayed on them thinking it was me and I needed them for ever! Then I found this site took alot of others advice and started weaning slowly it helps trust me:-)
Also don't take aspirin while taking this med it counteracts with it and can cause major liver damage as well as excessive bleeding.
Hope this helps you a little we are all in this together,

Candice

Thanks for your reply Candice. I wasn't sure I had the patience to adjust the beads each day but I think I will give that a try going forward from here. I am one of those people who likes to know why things work the way they do and I sure could not figure out what cold symptoms have to do with the brain - I guess it's just part of the process.
