I started taking Cymbalta 13 months ago, switching over from Celexa. It has not really helped me at all and has caused several side effects such as sweating, problems urinating and actually caused depression for me. I started from 60 mg. taking 10 percent of the beads out. I started 5 days ago and it has gone fairly well. I have had some nausea, headaches and neckaches. It has all been managable and goes away after an hour or so each day. My psychiatrist has instructed me to reduce to 50 mg. for one month, then 40mg. for one month, etc. I think though that I will do the 10% every 2-4 weeks depending on how I feel. In Canada we can only get 30 mg and 60 mg so it means lots of bead counting and no other way to really taper easily. I have also joined www.pointofreturn.com and will follow their program for getting off of as many of the meds as I can.
I have gained 150 pounds on anti-depressants in the last 21 years. I have had to add more and more meds to manage my health. Now I want to get off of it and lose the weight, then I would not need to take any prescription meds at all. That is my ultimate goal. But I am scared of this withdrawal business and just want it over. Can anyone tell me that they have successfully got off the Cymbalta and are now free of withdrawal symptoms.
My best wishes for you all.
