How do I lose the weight and when will the tinnitus stop. Not sure how long I have been off, maybe 2 months now, but the tinnitus won't go away and this weigh won't come off. I have been working out 4 times a week for one hour-Yoga, Core Conditioning, Cardio and walking and nothing is helping.

To those htat are off the meds-what are you doing to get your weidght to come off and how long does it take for this med to be complelety out of your system?

Thanks

I haven't attacked the weight loss yet. Could it be that you are losing inches just not lbs because you are building up muscle mass?

Regarding tinnitus, I'm guessing that you never had it before being on Cymbalta? If not, I would mention this to your doctor so that you can get a good medical work up to be sure that nothing else is going on. I've had it for years, so I don't understand how it works when it is short term or medicine induced. I just keep the TV on, or have music on at all times to keep from going nuts! It is annoying for sure.

There are posts here about how long it takes the actual medicine to be out of your system, the question is, how long does it take the brain to begin functioning normally on it's own after being on a psychotropic med. I wish I had an answer to that too, because I would like to know myself!

I never had tinnitus before Cymbalta, but fortunately, it only happens every couple of weeks for a few minutes at a time. Heck, I did not even know what tinnitus was before it happened coming off Cymbalta.

About the weight question - the important thing to remember in trying to lose it is that you have to eat.
Skipping meals or not eating at all will make your metabolism stop! Eat small meals often.

You are working out a good bit, and it could be that you are building muscle, which weighs more than body fat. Do your clothes fit better?

Get your thyroid checked. Mine was checked before going on Cymbalta, in fact, they had to wait for the test to start me on it. I don't remember why they did that specific test, and no other, so it could be something that Cymbalta does to our metabolism, that might need to be checked out.

Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing - your Prozac bait and switch method has helped many who come here!

another day of the dizzies......slight nausea....irritable...... Seeing a psychiatrist today (new doctor) to try to get a better hold of this thing. I'll update later today and hopefully have a few more answers that all of us can benefit from.
Hang in there everybody.

Slant - hang in there, it does get better. The medication Effexor is is the same class of medicines as Cymbalta, in case he might suggest that, same class, same junk when trying to come off. I found out the other day a family secret was my cousin took Effexor, came off and had to be hospitalized for a week.

Good luck with the new doctor - establish a plan of action. And, some doctors do not acknowledge Cymbalta Withdrawal, "discontinuation syndrome" or whatever fancy name they want to put on it. Do not let them tell you that withdrawal from this does not exist.

You know what you feel and it is very real. So best of luck to you. Many people have had their doctors recommend going to Prozac to help them wean off of Cymbalta, with great success. Hopefully, your new doc is open minded about this. I know that most of us want to be drug free, but if you can get through the worst without suffering, why not?

Looking forward to an update and hearing how you are doing!

Yes, I actually was on effexor, started having problems, and the "fix" was Cymbalta. Talk about out of the fire into the frying pan!!

good luck, and keep us updated!
