I thought I was going crazy until I found this site!! I have been on 30mg of Cymbalta a day for 3 months and I've decided I don't feel comfortable taking it anymore. I started weaning myself off of the drug by trying the every other day thing. About a week into this process, I started noticing what others are calling "brain shocks" only I didn't have a clue what was going on. At first I thought maybe my blood pressure was out of whack or something. It was normal and so was my blood sugar. I was starting to feel crazy b/c I couldn't explain these brain shocks. I've had other symptoms as well, such as the intensely vivid dreams (which led to feeling tired b/c I wasn't getting any good sleep) and the crazy mood swings! Thank goodness I have a very patient, laid-back husband! ;) I'm very glad to finally understand these brain shocks b/c I was seriously starting to get paranoid and envisioned me having a stroke, an aneurism, or any number of horrible things. I read some other people's postings who said to give Benadryl a try and I think I will. I'll post again in a couple of days to let everyone know how it's going and if the Benadryl worked for me. Thank you to everyone who is part of this site...you have helped me tremendously!!

basketball mom - welcome - as you probably already have read, every other day doses will put you into withdrawal every other day. don't go there, it doesn't work.

While coming off, it is wean slowly with every day doses or don't take it at all. You will find that some people who posted did have elevated blood pressure, racing heartbeats so if you are experiencing that, do not hesitate to ask a medical pro for help to make sure that you are safe.

Many people come off of Cymbalta quickly without the freak show of bad stuff and I hope that you are one of them.

Here is to you (and everyone else) having a gentle experience and hoping that you can report soon that the worst is over, but there are many people here vent to as well.

Omega 3 has been reported here by many to help with the brain zaps.

I am glad you found this site too, it is nice to know we are not crazy when we come off this drug. Be careful as Sarah says about doing the skip a day plan, it is not advisable. Keep coming back here and posting and reading what worked for others.
Remember that this things that have been happening to you are not you, they are the drug reacting. You are NOT crazy, you are NOT nuts, it is the drug.
Jeff
