    coming off Cymbalta

Posted 23 September 2010 - 03:46 AM

I won't bother with my story because we all have one to tell, its telling the right people. Its not easy to see that any good could possibly come out of this but I can say I've learned a valuable lesson in the importance of asking questions. And I decided to take control of my body and manage my own healthcare. Part of doing that right is by having a good team of professionals to work with but it is my body and I know when things aren't quite right. We're all human and just because there is a degree on the wall doesn't make the person perfect. So here is what I am doing because I need to. I have lost too much because of my Cymbalta/Wellbutrin cocktail.
I went to the FDA's website and printed the 2 or 3 pages and told my story, mailed it off. I got an acknowledgment letter but I also received an email with details on one of their reps calling me next week. I went to Erin Brocovich website and under Pharmaceutical you will see Cymbalta listed.
Can you imagine the impact we could make almost 5000 strong if all of us wrote in. Eli Lilly is last. I have found the reports on all the testing they are still doing on the drug while we are out here taking it. Volunteers for their studies are only on it for 24 days, cannot be depressed or on prior meds. This is so frightening and wrong on many levels. If anyone has questions on what my experience has been like please ask, and I hope people decide to fight for themselves by simply sharing their story with the people that need to hear it.

FDA: www.fda/gov.
Go to the consumer report section where you need to tell them what the drug did TO you. We all know for every action there is a reaction but they aren't interested in the fact we lost friends but why, ie. I became angry, extremely aggressive, slurred speech when I knew what I wanted to say but the words can't come out, brain zaps, forgetful, dizzy while just sitting, etc. etc.
Erin Brocovich: www.brocovich.com.
On the right side you will see Pharmaceutical..click and right there you will see the 4 or 5 drugs she is working to get offthe market..Cymbalta.
No one should have to live like this and its bullshit what this drug has done to all of us. I only fight this passionately when I know I will win and I am right, one of those "I told you so" kind of people so you can only imagine how excited I will be when Cymbalta is recognized for what it is.

Hi...The FDA is www.fda.gov/safety/medwatch/how to report. You can probably type in just www.fda.gov. You can download and mail it in or do it on line but I mailed mine in. I had some things to say about the way the drug has affected me. Thats the point to get across, yes there are repercussions from the drug but they need to hear what it did TO you. For example, they don't care that I lost friends and alienated myself from people. They need to hear that I have become a highly agitated person, aggressive, angry and frustrated. I was dizzy, and my vision became blurred, my ability to speak or to communicate has been compromised in that I get a sudden rush of thoughts in my head and can't get the words out, brain zaps, insomnia. And I did try to kill myself. Didn't seem like it was what I should do and people that want to truly die don't clearly state that out loud and proceed as if they were going about their normal daily routine. Yes, I knew it was the drug and tried to fight it but it was as if there was something in my head telling me this is what I needed to do.
Anyways, hope I can help and I did get a letter back acknowledging they heard from me and I will get Erins address and send to you in a few.

I GOT A REPLY FROM ERIN BROCOVICH!!!

She is aware of Cymbalta and what it is doing to so many people ..... she needs to hear from people......go to the site, under Pharmaceutical and Cymbalta. It prompts you in what to do, tell her! The more that do this the better.
Plus I wrote the FDA afdter filling out their report on line...received a letter back and I have a phone call scheduled for next week to talk to a director.

I can't be the only one serious about this drug causing so much damage. At this point if people are going to walk away from me because of this drug then let them. Not what I call unconditional love and in the long run maybe they aren't really friends. And as far as family, please!! You can't pick your family you can pick your friends which is why I say friends are the family you choose for yourself. Besides, we have a few thousand people that come in and out of this site and we all share something more real than I have ever experienced. Real is the key word!
