I accidentally posted this in the News section earlier.

I have been off Cymbalta for a few days now and I'm having these really weird, very vivid memories. I'm having very vivid memories of insignificant things that I thought had long been forgotten. For instance, I had a vivid memory of falling when I was camping about 21 years ago. In this memory, I could recall the tent color and everything sitting on the picnic table right down to the plastic fork box. It will just pass through my mind out of NOWHERE. I mean, I'm constantly having these very vivid flashbacks. Is anyone else experiencing that? I also have a thirst I can't quinch, even after bottles of Gatorade. I'm still thirsty when it's going down my throat.

At the beginning, yes, I did have those same flashbacks. My sister and I have long joked that we keep unpleasant things locked in a box in our heads, and one day, it was like someone opened the lid! I actually called her to tell her about it, so it is odd that you mention it. That sensation did eventually fade, as I'm coming up on around day 50 off of Cymbalta, but for the first few weeks, I felt what you described, AND my dreams were extremely vivid as well. It was like I had ingested a hallucinogenic drug.

I was thirsty too, and I think it was in due in part to the fact that I was constantly grazing, and may have eaten too much sodium. Try just drinking water for awhile, and see if that helps.

YES, that is what I said. It was like a memory box's lid came flying off in my brain. I'm glad to hear that goes away because it has been really annoying. It might not be as bad knowing that it is just the withdrawals. It was really freaking me out because until now, I had no idea there were withdrawal symtoms from the drug.

I just realized I posted this on the wrong board.

There, now the thread is complete. You can go in and delete that old post if you want to.

It does ease up, but it can get kind of scary. As Jeff posts frequently, keep telling yourself it is the drug, and the withdrawal, it is NOT you, you are NOT losing your mind. Try to watch light things on TV, read short stories that are upbeat, and if can, get some sunshine.

Also, please read through the other posts here where others have posted what they did to wean off, and cope. There is a lot of good information, but also, don't be afraid to ask questions. Everyone here has been so supportive to each other, and you will find a lot of comfort in that.

Thank you, I didn't know I could delete. I'm new here. I am SO comforted to know it's just the withdrawals. I was so scared that I was going crazy. I very seriously told my husband that something was wrong with me and I couldn't describe it. The vivid memories of people or places you have long since forgotten about out of nowhere is just totally foreign to me. Plus, they kind of pulled me out of reality for a split second when it happened. My son was getting very frustrated that I kept zoning out for no reason. That had never happened and I was very scared. Again, I feel SO much better now. Thank you ;-)

random - I had the same thing happen to me, right before I felt like my brains were starting to work again.

Remembering things from 17 years ago and feeling like it was 5 mintues ago. Hope that your mind was bringing you good memories.

Our brain chemistry is very delicate to begin with, we were taking a pretty potent substance that altered that delicate balance. So my best not-a-doctor-or-scientist guess is that this happens to some of us because things that Cymbalta was numbing are being turned back on. Because, on Cymbalta, when I should have cried over something, I cried for about 3 minutes, to me, that shows the power of this drug.

random - do please keep coming here to post. There are so many people who come here feeling confused, no mater what part of withdrawal you are in, please get it out how you are feeling, it helps you and others to know that they aren't alone.

Looking forward to hearing how you are doing.
