Will be helping my wife detox from cymbalta.

Posted 03 November 2010 - 01:59 PM

I can't stand this. I'm experiencing the brain zaps that I keep reading about on here, as well as EXTREME dizziness, nausea, the constant urge to cry or scream or something (I'm manic, basically) and I feel like there are bugs under the skin in the one spot in the middle of my back that I cannot reach. I keep seeing things move and getting really paranoid. I've got the cold sweats 24/7, and I've been having night terrors. I just need some support or advice with this. I can't refill my prescription so I have no option but to continue going cold turkey.

Also, do omega 3 supplements really help the brain zaps? Is there a specific dosage I should look for?
I'm currently drinking a lot of water and taking benedryl, which is helping a LITTLE bit but not with the brain zaps or the bugs that seem to be all over me. If anyone has any suggestions about what else would help, please share. I'm open to anything, really, but I am vegan so things like fish oil are out of the question

thanks in advance

This is a tough one..... All of the symptoms you mentioned are basically withdrawl effects. My wife has experienced/is experiencing all of those. In answer to your questions.... the Omega3 fish oil supplements (1000mg+)do help in MOST cases, but not all. It does a pretty good job of clearing "brain fog" as well as helping do away with the "zaps". I would seriously consider this. Benadryl helps somewhat with the itching.... it will come and go for no apparent reason, as will the night/body sweats. Have yet to find a "cure" for those. Lots of Gatorade (green/) seems to have a positive effect on all this..... don't know why, it just does. Flaxseed oil 1000mg seems to be adding to the detoxing process as well. My wife takes Zofran for the nausea, she says it has been a God send. Lots of water, sunshine and exercise will be of help. There are several "herbal" remedies on the market.... use caution as some may have a detrimental affect on your detoxing. Hope this is of some help. You can read about my wifes' journey in the "follow the yellow brick road" thread. It may be of some help.

Take care
