rene -
Try to relax right now and not be worried - you are going to get through this! If these are new issues for you that did not exist before you took Cymbalta, please get them checked out if you are not feeling better by the time you read this.

Many of us had the same feelings and fears of being permanently damaged, but go over the success stories - it does get better! Have faith, try to be calm and stay positive. What you were on Cymbalta for? For a pain condition or depression issues?

I am on this drug for Fibromyalgia, and I thought it was getting worse taking the drug!
I am weening off now, (am at 22.5mg a day) and I think it's just back to how it was before I started the drugs.

Greybeard - have you searched out other pain forums (like this one) to ask the question about how Ultram might affect you in the long term? Real users of the drug = real experiences and not the sugar coated fluff of medical sites.

Regarding pain, I have a bad knee. Lifelong story I will spare you details of, but a few years ago in my already bad knee I tore my meniscus. I begged for pain killers and my ortho doc was very conserverative and said no. He recommended glucosamine sulfate with MSM and also the following (kids don't do this without your doctors advice): Every 6 hours take 2 (two) extra strength Tylenol in conjunction with 2 (two) ibuprophen. I took "generic" versions of each. Thought it would never work. A few hours after I tried it, it helped incredibly, I mean as well as "narcotic" drugs without the stoned feeling. I was amazed.

I lost my $4/cheap drug list, but there are some supplements available on it. Check and see if the Glucosamine is on that list. We all know the Tylenol and Advil aren't.

I hope that if you try the Ultram, it is beneficial to you. You help so many people here. Best to you!

GB, my Mom has severe arthritis, and ultram is one of the few things that give her a small amount of relief. NOW, I will tell you, it is on my big NO list for meds, because it also causes a rise in Cerbro Spinal fluid in the head. My medical condition is Intracranial Hypertension, meaning I either produce too much, or don't absorb CSF the way most people do. So, I can NOT take this drug, and I caution anyone that has had head injuries or headaches to be very careful with yet another of Lily's drugs. It can cause a spike in CSF that can cause horrific headaches. So, the good news is, it seems to help my Mom some, but it is a powerful drug, and you need to be careful. If after taking it you get a headache, stop taking it right away. It likely won't affect you in that manner, but I get a little paranoid when I see Ultram/Tramadol. I constantly ask my Mom if she is having headaches. Sorry, I'm paranoid.

I know! I've been reading articles about it, and they have "fun" little nick names, like "skittles" or "jellies" for prescription drugs, and these kids think they are safe. There is a commercial running right now, where a guy is standing in the morgue, between 2 bodies. He says, the kid on the right died from an overdose of illegal drugs, the kid on the left died from prescription drugs. He then asks, which one is more dead?

GB, my Mom has said the same thing, it doesn't give you the typical buzz that most narcotic pain meds do. Unfortunately for her, it just barely takes the edge off, but it is so far, the only thing that has done even that, and she has had fentanyl patches, vicodin and numerous others.

I think your warnings were clearly stated.

Wow, GB, I'm really glad that you were able to get to a normal level of pain. While I don't understand all the details of the drugs, your posts encourage me. Thank you so much for sharing. And thanks to everyone else that is sharing, too. Thank you, thank you!!!
