    cymbalta withdrawal

Posted 18 January 2011 - 08:14 AM

I have always used natural treatments whenever I am able. I have been off cymbalta totally for 13 days now after I weaned down to about 5 mgms per day. The aftermath symptoms were massive a lot of brain zaps, dizziness, abdominal swelling, depression. I started doing a lot of reading, apparently cymbalta permeates your fat cells and also changes your metabolism. I am now on a total fresh juice detox diet and the worst symptoms have started to decrease, I am on my 4th day so far so good, my brain zaps are down to a few a day , the fog in my head is decreasing , my rigid muscles are starting to loosen, 8 lbs of my 40 lb weight gain have gone, and my breathing is starting to improve. This diet may not be for everyone but it seems to be working for me, so far. I will try to do it for a few more days, hopefully good things will keep on happening.

Glad to hear that your symtoms are subsiding. From your reading can you explain what Cymbalta does to your metabolism? I know that a lot of us have gained weight or been unable to lose it while on that devil drug but don't know why.

Funny how it's touted as being 'weight neutral'. :P

Hi Pamela,

Please read my post on the 26 Dec that explains some of my symptoms. There are many others. I will list some. My skin has thickened and is very wrinkly, at the same time its shiny like plastic, my fingernails which used to be very healthy are now covered in thick vertical ridges, peel, are very thin, my hands and cuticles are extremely dry and are very easy to damage, I am never without cuts. My eyes are very bloodshot, my hair which was very beautiful naturally so I was often told, now alternates between very dry and very greasy, and has become very limp, and is rarely shiny. I have always been active with stretching and exercise, my muscles are now very rigid and my movement is limited, I did a fitness test recently the results gave me the fitness level of an 83 year old, I am 58. My weight increased by 40 lbs mostly on my stomach, I have always been very slim naturally and have never had to go on a diet, I bruise very easily, my blood clotting mechanism is very slow. I have chronic pain that has increased 10 fold. I have huge problems breathing, puffers offer no assistance. My lungs are clear test wise. I have tried all sorts of things to counteract these symptoms not one thing worked and it wasnt until I had many medical tests showing I had no diseases, no cancer, no tumors and I was healthy apart from my liver function slowing down, did my MD not my psychiatrist decide that all my problems came from cymbalta. Prior to cymbalta I was healthy, occasionally getting the flu or a bug, no metabolism problems, I looked reasonably good for my age, my fitness levels were those of a woman in her early forties, I probably saw my MD once or twice each year. I had the usual tests pap smear, mammogram nothing much more, occasionally a full blood count, I did not need anything more. There are many more symptoms, if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask.
