Has anyone thought about the fact that the physical issues that were brought on by Cymbalta and withdrawal of Cymbalta could be permanently disabiling? Or does anyone have any information about this being a possible issue?

I have a sister-in-law that is considered disabled. Not from Cymbalta, but other health conditions that effect her joints and muscles and she is in pain more than not. So after a very long night last night of pain and not being able to sleep I started giving it some thought.

I just interviewed for a job on Sunday that I would very much like to get hired for, but.........

Is it fair to start a new job being in the condition I am? If it is offered to me do I take it and try to pretend that I am ok? Do I deside not to take the job if offered to me and wait this ordeal out a little longer? Do I start looking into the fact I may never be the same? I'm sort of ashamed now of myself because when I see people parked in handicap parking that don't look disabled I get irritated. How do I know that they aren't suffering something similar to this? I don't look sick either, but know I am.

Any thoughts or ideas or answers out there?

Mary

Graybeard-Thank you for your reply. As much as I wanted that job, I decided it wasn't fair to the employer if I couldn't be honest and tell them "well, gee, I'm not sure if I could make it everyday because this drug I'm on (was on) has given me crippeling effects". So I called her and told her what was going on and that I did not want to be considered for the position. And it hurts me because it truly would have been the perfect job if only......

I don't know what to do. Unemployment won't last forever. Suppose just take my own advice I gave to Jeff-I CAN DO THIS! And I will be better eventually and go back to work. I CAN DO THIS!! ;)

Do you know of any programs maybe besides SSI? I'm going over the mountains Saturday to talk to my sister-in-law, who has MS, and get some advice from her if it turns out I can't go back to work, or at least for a long time. Plus she is a true inspiration to me with what she goes through day to day.

I am so sorry to hear about all you have been through. I should be thankful for the unemployment and I do also get food stamps. I don't have a doctor of anykind anymore that will see me since I don't have money to pay and I don't have insurance. When I get to the point that I am screaming or crying in pain I go to the ER. They won't get paid any time soon, but they can't turn you away. I finally found a program here in Colorado (denver) called CICP that is for us older folks who don't qualify for medicaid or medicare and have to means of paying for doctors, prescriptions, etc etc. But I can't even get in for the financial screening until May 30th, and if, and that's a BIG if, they approve me I don't know how long before I get to see a doc.

Prayers to you!

Hi Mary,
You spoke of getting on disability and I wanted to respond. I HAD to get on disability. I was turned down the first time, but I was expecting the denial... so I was prepared to fight. I won. Thank God!

My health problems are too numerous to list. I began getting ill physically and then the depression kicked in, too. I lived in a rental home that was literally killing me. There was toxic mold behind the walls due to plumbing leaks and I was breathing it in every day and I became so ill that I didn't want to live anymore.

Back to the disability - Whoever decided my case, didn't believe that mold could cause enough physical problems to keep me from being able to work. But it was horrible! I am still suffering from the stuff - both physically and emotionally.

My point is this... It is easier to receive disability by proving that you suffer 'mentally' rather than 'physically.' I don't understand why, but it's true.

I wish you all of the luck in the world! Hang in there and do all of the paperwork that you will be given and expect a denial the first time. If you are denied, please get one of those 'TV attorneys' to fight for you. They know so many things that we don't. And, again... GOOD LUCK TO YOU! I hope that you receive your disability long enough for you to get well. I'll be watching our site to see how you are doing.

Sincerely,
Sherry

?A couple had two little boys ages 8 and 10 who were excessively mischievous. They were always getting into trouble and their parents knew that if any mischief occurred in their town their sons were probably involved.

??They boys' mother heard that a clergyman in town had been successful in disciplining children so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The clergyman agreed but asked to see them individually. So the mother sent her 8-year-old first in the morning?with the older boy to see the clergyman in the afternoon.

??The clergyman a huge man with a booming voice sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly "Where is God?".

??They boy's mouth dropped open but he made no response sitting there with his mouth hanging open wide-eyed. So the clergyman repeated the question in an even sterner tone "Where is God?" Again the boy made no attempt to answer. So the clergyman raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face and bellowed "WHERE IS GOD?"

??The boy screamed and bolted from the room ran directly home and dove into his closet slamming the door behind him. When his older brother found him in the closet he asked "What happened?"
