A few months ago I decided along with my doctor that it was time to stop to taking Cymbalta after 18 months on 60mg
My first step was from 60mg to 30mg. I experienced feelings of anxiety and OCD as well as bouts of quite pronounced mania for about 3 weeks.
After this experience I was aprehensive to do to bigger jumps. I stabilised on 30mg for 4 months.
9 days ago I decided to stop taking the Cymbalta cold turkey. I had gotten to a point where I was too impatient to taper off the drugs over serveral months.
For the first 3 days I had no withdrawal symptoms. Then on day 4 I started to get the brain zaps, I also started to get a little snappy with other people. Im now at the end of day 9 and the brain zaps have stopped and i feel great. Im taking 2000mg of fish oil a day and i am exercising every day.
Cymbalta worked very well for me, over the 18 months I was taking it the only downsides were weight gain, 8 kgs, always being sleepy and blackouts when drinking alcohol. But those side effects were a small price to pay. Now im happy and healthy.
