Ok the back story first. I have been on 60mg for about 5 and half years. Within the past couple of weeks I started feeling nausea while on the meds. I felt like they were not working anymore. So I quit taking them cold-turkey. For five days now I have had the tingling sensations, headaches, and the almighty zaps every couple of seconds. I am also starting to notice the sensitivity to sounds. I really want to scream half of the day and sleep the other half. Today was my first day out of work because of the symptoms - yes I have toughed out the first three two days of the week at work. Anyways I found this forum and decided to try the weaning process tonight. Oh and my dreams are crazy. I can actually remember them detail by detail. I actually think I could write a book on some of these dreams.

I was taking my meds in the morning before I quit the cold turkey. So I have decided to try taking them at night. Hopefully, I can have any symptoms at night while I am sleeping. I do take OTC sleep pills. So for everyone else out there in the same boat that I am in (here is my journey through it). I hope that I am going to be able to give some help and inspiration to others that are like me.

Ok my first day!! I figured since I have been off the pills for five days I can start back on the 30 mgs. Hopefully the tingling and zaps will start. I took the meds at 5:30 tonight. It is 7:00 and they have not stopped. I'm going to take sleep pills in about two hours and sleep most of it off.

WISH ME LUCK!!!!! I will try to post every couple of days so we all know how it goes!! BTW - the zaps and tingling started the day two days after I stopped taking the meds. I feel bad because I yelled at my kids last night for no apparent reason after looking back. I have warned everyone in my household what I am doing and told them no matter what I say or do - I do love them!!!! They laugh at me and say "Here's Johnny"!! - It's from a Stephen King movie I believe. The one where they are in the hotel for winter and the husband ends up going crazy and trying to kill the wife and kid!!! I told them I am not going to let it get that far - I will go to my room and lock the door before I yell again (if I can help it at all).

I felt I needed to try the weaning process because of going to work full-time and going to college....I can not focus on classes while going through withdrawels.

Dear OMG,

You should look around this site more. You will find that the way you are doing it (jumping from 60 to 30) will bring more of the same of what you have been going through. Cymbalta happens to be a tough med to get off. You are weaning too quickly for Cymbalta.

I suggest you check this thread out: https://www.cymbalta...f-off-cymbalta/

I spoke to my RX @ walgreens yesterday & she told me the symptoms of withdrawls usually wont apperar until the 3rd day. Thats nice to know to expect that. It gets worse from there. I quit once before but it seriously took about a year & I was still not feeling the way I did before I started on them. SO, I figured it was new Fibro symptoms, the Zaps, SO I went back on it. My new plan is too take one little pepple out a day of the capsule till I'm down to zero. I take 90 mg, Don"t know how long this will take. The last time was frightening. Seriously homacidal, so I need to take a long time (yeras). I had cut my pills in half & half again over a period of a a few months. The withdrwals however last much much longer than that for me. We lost our insurance today & it seems like I may have to take out a loan just to quit! I think Lili RX horrible for charging as much as they do for their drugs. Does anyone know if they did a study for quitting cymbalta? & if so, Did they lie about it?
Your in my prayers,
Noelle

Soberry,

Good questions. I haven't seen any studies done on withdrawal. However, there is all the experience anybody needs right here in this site. Read some of the posts on this site and you will see many different experiences, withdrawal effects, and ways of withdrawing. Your idea of 1 bead per day is pretty conservative, but I understand how you feel about taking it slow if that is what your body needs.

Good luck, and hang around here. We can all do this together. You are not alone.
