Hey!

First post on this thing. Hurray for me! First of all - it breaks my heart that so many people are suffering from the crazy good/bad of Cymbalta. While it certainly helped me get through major issues, I wonder if I'll ever be able to get off of it and onto Wellbutrin or something less horrific as far as withdrawal goes.

Has anyone done this? If so - can you give me a rundown on the experience?

Thanks so much.

Quote from Psych Dr. "There's no such thing as withdrawal from Cymbalta...and I think it will help your Fibro pain..." 2003

I would like the Psych Dr to due his share of this crap.

I will have try something else as I have tried to remove myself from the lowest dose and have been at it for sometime.
I am not weak, but I know there is an addiction of some sort going on here. And, I HATE IT.

After four weeks of tapering, with zaps, tinnitus, hot flashes, aches, memory losses etc. all the way, I was down to about 12-18 mg (estimated by breaking capsules & removing part of the contents) daily. I had tried going to one capsule every other day, and that was a spectacularly epic FAIL. Yesterday I went to my psydoc for the first visit since he started me tapering, and after hearing my symptoms, he had me stop Cymbalta totally and put me on 20 mg of Prozac. After 24 hours, I can report that the zaps are gone, aches are still somewhat there (but I also planted several rows of garden yesterday), and tinnitus is still there, maybe a little diminished. The huge difference is that the buzzing and zaps are gone, and they were unbearable, so for me at least Prozac is a very satisfactory substitute. I am on a weaning process off Prozac. I will be interested to see whether the Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms return after I stop Prozac.

I, too have heard that Prozac was very good to help with the withdrawals but I was afraid of Prozac and took a Good Day product called The Positive Mood Formula. It helped me through alot of the side effects but you would also want to see other threads in regards to 5 HTP and also do some research via the net on 5 HTP.
