My 1st post. I know all about detox. Last year I went thru detox for Oxycontin , I had been on it for pain for 6yrs. Method used in the clinic was using Suboxone, which is much easier drug to then detox off of. but it was still a living hell, and has had long lasting effects.

I have relapsing remitting MS, CFS, and Fibromyalgia, Diabetes type 2 with insulin ,along with deteriorating disc disease which pinches nerves causing high pain in my leg and knee. Oh ya and have Sleep Apnea too, LOL yep am falling apart. I am on 300 mg of Lyrica\ and rx Ibrophen for the pain, and depending on how my day goes gets me thru, I am never pain free I just manage it.

I had been on Prozac for depression, PMS, whatever for over 20yrs and it wasn't doing a dam thing anymore. So a shrink then changed me to Cymbalta, reasoning that it would be twofold, 1 depression, 2 pain . As for the pain don't think it makes much difference , because the Oxy had me in la la land for so long, and it will apparently be a long time before my pain receptors will be right.

When I started the Cymbalta, I had to gradually go off the Prozac and that was not a problem. took about 4-6 wks.

I want to be off the Cymbalta because :
1. It's not making a difference I am still in pain , but am SCARED that what if its like going off Oxy and Suboxone whereby every fibre in my body fought it because of the screwed up receptors. The pain was worse than natural childbirth ! living hell.

2. Now they tell me it maybe the cause that I have NO sex drive. Oh joy. And it is yet another factor in my extreme fatigue.

3. In Canada it cost $275 a month, along with everything else I take I can't afford it

4. Want to be on as few drugs as I can

Well there u have it. So wot to do wot to do. I can't get a straight answer from my Dr. (who is also the idiot who got me addicted to the Oxycontin ). To quit or not to quit and how. The weaning and then back on Prozac sounds like a good option.
I sure would appreciate some feedback.. tks LucyGoose
