I was only on Cymbalta for 4 months. Two months after starting the 60 mg I began to have horrible stomach problems. Constant nausea, severe acid reflux, constipation, stabbing pains in my upper abdominal region, night sweats severe dizzy spells. And on top of that I was always tired, sleeping on the couch, zero motivation to do ANYTHING including hang out with friends. I went to specialists and spent over $600 getting test after test done to figure out this mystery ailment. I told each Doctor that I had started the Cymbalta fairly recently and none of them even looked into it. Not even my Psychiatrist. I started looking at the manufacturer's website to check for side effects but it wasn't until I started looking at blogs like this that I realized Cymbalta was most likely the cause of my misery. Since it clearly wasn't working on my depression symptoms my psychiatrist told me to drop down to every other day. My stomach started to feel only slightly better so I stopped cold turkey. After 2 weeks of no cymbalta I felt 1,000 times better!! The damage has already been done to the tissues of my digestive system so I have to continue to take 20mg of Omeprazole 2x/day until everything has healed. I still have the acid reflux (though not as bad) and I rarely have feelings of nausea. I have been very emotional and cry at the drop of a hat but I'll take all of this over being bed ridden. I'm just frustrated that I had to figure this out on my own and that the potential side effects were not well explained or even documented online. I know this drug works great for some so I don't feel like it should be taken off the market completely but new users need to be much better informed of potential issues and physical side effects. I wasted 8 weeks of my life and spent quite a bit of money before all this was sorted out. Is there anything I can do? I just want reimbursement. I don't want to sue them and so far none of these issues seem to be permanent (knock on wood). Does anyone know how to go about this or if this is even an option?
Thank you,
Lindsay
