Since some people had good results from omega 3 fish oil suppliments I decided to try flax seed oil. I loathe fish and the prospect of belching up fish oil was NOT an option. The flax oil smells and tastes like fish. It irritated my gut and I feel better without it. I'm going to try it as an ingredient in salad dressing later, when I feel better.
Today I started on milk thistle (with lots of other ingredients). This is a liver cleansing supplement. Someone needs to patent a cymbalta detox program to treat the 'discontinuation syndrome'.

Hi
I have been taking fish oil supplements for osteoarthritis in excess of the recommended dose as suggested by my chiropracter. I have only once had minor reflux -I am an old fart and I was brought up on tablespoons of cod liver oil. I too have a major aversion to the taste of fish oil but I have not found it a problem. If you take full fat yogurt before taking the fish oil, this helps or you can take an active acidopholus (live gut bacteria). This will help with any stomach problems. There is a web site called "Healthy Living" which recommends natural alternatives to prescription medications and ways to promote healthy eating. The fish oils also enhance brain function and the metabolism of "bad fats". Drug firms have made a fortune out of promoting low-fat alternatives to healthy fats.
You need proper fats for your body to work properly - cooking with coconut oil, plain olive oil or butter. you can use Virgin olive oil in salads but if you heat it whilst cooking, it forms a carcinogen. Plain olive oil does not. You need the special fats in beef rather than chicken. Beef also contains essential trace elements which are not found in chicken. We have been fed a host of lies over the past few years. Recent research has disproved the low-fat theory. If you have a high cholesterol and your doctor insists on your taking Statins, you are more at risk of having a mini stroke than you are of having a heart attack from the high cholesterol. Who benefits from the sale of Statins?? The major drug firms, of course - it has been their best profit maker in years. No one tells you about all of the side effects - just like Cymbalta.
Sorry this has become a hobby horse of mine! Hope it helps.
