I have been taking this poison for 16 month, two weeks back I was taking 30 mg per two days in which second day was always horrible... I didn't know that Cymbalta had half life of 12 hours, therefore increasing gaps between dosages wouldn't help... I kept taking 30 mg per two days for almost a year... just 2 weeks back I reduced that amount to 20 mg per two days without any major problem. .in one week I changed to 10 mg per day...i took it for four days and when I found no adverse effect then reduced the amount to 5 mg per day from yesterday and today I felt a little light headed, got some brain zaps, felt some irritation.. but overall it is better than I expected..

Last year not knowing about the withdrawal effect at all, I tried cold turkey and got so sick that I got bed ridden.. I came on cymbalta again.. almost 4 months back I tried to increase the gap (as prescribed by my doctor) it was hell.. when the gap reached 5 days... anxiety hit me so hard that I had to go to Cardio ER... stayed there for a day and got prescribed medicines for hypertension..

almost a week back I tried orange bit, just to found out it will overdose you... it is better if you reduce on the number of beads in the capsule and take the capsule...

It has been three days, I have been taking 5 mg per day... no serious side effects.. just light headedness, forgetfulness, irritation... I have been in two fights in last two days... the last one involved 3 cops... I know it is dangerous but I don't feel a thing... no fear.. nothing...

4th Day at 5 mg/day..

I am feeling worse today, feeling headache and agitated. Feeling like beating the s@#$t out of someone.. fortunately no brain zaps yet.. just dizziness and light headedness.. My daughter is sick and i couldn't sleep yesterday night so probably I am feeling worse due to lack of sleep...

I am gonna continue with 5 mg/day for some more days until I feel comfortable with the dose and then I am going to cut it down more..

6th Day at 5 mg/day

It turned out that my symptoms on 4th day were mostly due to lack of sleep than weaning off... I am feeling better. Yesterday at around 9 PM it became very hard for me to keep awake so I took 5 mg and slept..

I think I will give 5 mg/day some more time before going to 2.5 mg/day

Hi FibroLady,

Reducing dose by cutting on the number of beads inside the capsule is working great with me... I have reduced the dosage from 30 to 5 mg (from a 20mg capsule removing all but 32 beads will make it 5mg but it depends upon total number of beads you have in the capsule, mine have 128 beads)... How did it go? Please read my daily update for this...

Sorry I couldn't update yesterday so here is the report for yesterday which was my second day at 2.5 mg.. It is worse, looks like cymbalta is trying to fight its way back into my system.. i won't let that happen though.. whole day I was dizzy, had severe headache, empty headedness, whistling sound in my ear, heart went wild with anxiety, sudden sweating.. but good news is; i fought all of that off, i was at work yesterday and decided to work late... then I drove home which is 1 hour drive, I even had a job interview yesterday which I gave and seems to have won that... I think it will take my body some time to adjust to 2.5 mg/day dose... after all just a month back I was taking 30 mg/day...

Day 3-5 at 2.5 mg/day, (16 beads out of 20mg capsule)

things have been better for me.. most of the symptoms are not severe.. there are brain zaps, nausea and most of the time light headedness but I have been trying to keep myself busy.. I am feeling like a different person... I decided to drive to my home town (which is 200 km away) with my whole family.. i stayed there for last 3 days and just now I have come back.. never felt better in a long time.. my wife said I am a better person now.. .Hope this continues.. .

In short, 2.5 mg/day gave me tough time for first 2 days.. but if you wean off properly, it is not difficult to over come the withdrawal symptoms because now your body is addicted of a smaller dosage... Keep yourself busy ...

Day 6:

DISASTER... I mistakenly took all of 20 mg capsule... I had it in hand and was about to open and take out beads equivalent to 2.5mg(16 beads) .. my wife handed me water and without thinking I swallowed that capsule and didn't realize until 1 hour later... So today I was zombie like.. lets hope this doesn't ruin my weaning off schedule.

Day 7-8:

taking 20 mg by mistake didn't ruin the schedule much.. I was fine on 7th day, but today (the 8th day) I was feeling nauseas, light headedness, brain zaps, dizziness and sleepiness .. good news is all of that was manageable ..

Day 9 at 2.5 mg/day
Today was a good day.. I was fresh and didn't feel any of the symptoms as such. ... just lost some words.. went a little absent minded during a discussion, but I can feel I am coming back... its like coming out of smoke.. everything is clearer...

Tonight I will reduce my dose to 1 mg/day..

Day 1-2 at 1mg/day..

First day was bad, I started getting symptoms right after noon and they continued and got worse till I slept... I was too dizzy by the time i drove back from office, I was about to fall 3-4 times from my car to my house door...
Second day was better than that..

Day 4-5 at 1mg/day

It is getting horrible.. seems like my body hasn't yet adjusted to this dose or maybe I am feeling like this because I got a sore throat and cough last night..Hope this cough is not one of the side effects... I am planning to go cold turkey any time therefore doing some research on the supplements which can help me get over the withdrawal symptoms..

I have read a lot on this site about cutting the number of beads to wean. Can I just take the beads by themselves, or do they have to be in a capsule to take them?

Thanks!

Always take the beads within the capsule. You don't want them hurt your stomach.

I think some pharmacies and health food shops sell them; you can also get them online by looking for hard gel capsules or something similar.

This is an example of what can be purchased from ebay if you are unable to find them locally: http://www.ebay.com/...=item1c1ff31c47
