OK, this is my FIRST time ever joining a chat room, but I need to understand what's going on. I was on 30mg of Cymbalta for about 3 or 4 years (30mg). I used it to help me overcome an 18 year long eating disorder.I'm proud to say that I have been "healthy" for over 4 years now. I have never been a medicine taking person and wanted to get off Cymbalta. I spoke to my doctor and he recommended weaning. It has been 1 month now. he had me take 30mg Mon-Wed-Fri for 2 weeks, then Tue-Thur for 2 weeks and then stop. I just took my last 30mg this past Thursday. What I have noticed is moments of light-headedness, being very tired, moments of not giving a sh#@, and some irritability. How long will this last?! When can I expect to feel "normal" again? Do I need to be on "something"? I really don't like taking meds. I am open to suggestions, thoughts . . .

Thank you.

Hi tired25,

I'm no doctor but from what I've read and from my own weaning experience, your weaning schedule was mighty fast. Drinking lots of water and taking fish oil tablets which are high in Omega 3 can be helpful. Many say benedryl helps too. I have read on here and other forums that some people get other prescription meds to take while weaning. If it makes you feel better, you are not alone and you will get better. I suggest you read as many as the posts in here that you can. You will find alot of helpful info. I know how you feel. I have been where you are. Believe me, you will feel better. Stay in touch.

Perry,
Thank you very much for responding and the words of encouragement. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I will read some of the other postigs and try the fish oil, as you recommended. How long did it take you to "feel normal" again. Does anyone know how long Cymbalta stays in your system?
thanks,

Dear tired25,

Everyone responds differently to withdrawals so its hard to say when you will feel mormal again. I'm on my 33rd day without Cymbalta and I am still having issues with being tired, crumpy and depression. I have good days and bad. This doesn't mean that it will take you this long. I find by posting here everyday it makes me feel better. I also gain valuable insight and knowledge from other members. I think you will find the same things here too. Try to take it one day at a time. You've made the hardest step, the first one... you should be very proud of yourself. Hang in there!

Perry,
Thank you so much for your great words of encouragement. they mean a lot to me. I have felt pretty good the last few days - still tired, but not moody. I'll keep you posted. I wish you luck in your road to freedom from Cymbalta. Again, thanks for your words of encouragement right back at you! :)
