I took Cymbalta for about 5 years . For Fibromylagia etc... I quit taking it about 1 year ago .

I still have these strange sad feelings in me . It feels like it may be going away . But very , very slowly .

I think Cymbalta opens up bad avenues in your mind . That probably should not be played around.

At least that's what seems to be my main problems.

Welcome to the site gargan4130.

It has been shown that cymbalta has permanent effects on many parts of our sexual and reproductive systems but I have not read of any permanent effects on our neural pathways. Having said that I wouldn't be suprised if you are right. Cymbalta effects the neuroreceptors for seratonin, noradrenalin and adrenalin as well as neurapathy receptors. It even has a slight effect on dopamine receptors. Once our body is shed of cymbalta how long will it take those receptors to stabize and get use to 'normal' operations? You were on this med for 5 years. While most of the people on this site stabilize in no more than 8 to 12 weeks there are few others that I have read about that took much longer. I don't know what to say other than to hang in there and keep us posted. Any information you can supply in your posts may help others in the future who may have long term effects as well. I would encourage you to post at least once a month so that others can learn from your experiences and not feel alone in their long-term fight.

Let us know if there is anything we can do for you. God bless and hang in there!

If you want to read a doctor's report on all the problems one of his patient's had when trying to get off Crapalta, try out this link:

http://www.healthcen...46506/cymbalta/

It was written in Nov 2011, but this doctor was really on the ball and obviously cared about her patient

If there is any problem with the link or if anyone wants me to post this article here, let me know

Thank you for that link, Nancy.  I may use that article with hubby to convince him to try another low-dose antidepressant for a while.  Today is another horrible day for him.  At this rate he or I are not going to make it through this.  At the very least, I may have to use that article to convince our doctor of the hell that hubby is going through, since currently he doesn't believe it.

gargan4130 - I can hear your frustrations in your post.  Hang in there, little by little hopefully things will continue to improve.

Mgpam . I would definitely find a substitute . My hands were shaking and my body was twitching . I had never taken a anti-depressant. I have Paxil now . And Doxepin

which works on the ruthless insomnia . Progress has been made. No human is built of pure iron .

Hi John

It has been a rough ride for me. I had a panic attack at the hospital so Dr gave me an antianxiety med and then I had an allergic reaction to it.

Crapalta certainly makes life interesting.

Hope you are doing better.
