I stopped "cold turkey" my 60mg Cymbalta which I had taken for 3 years. I got horrible withdrawals and the worst of it was the brain zaps but then I decided to try DXM to help with the withdrawal since it is a SNRI etc. so I started with about 100mg DXM daily dosed twice AM and PM and tapered that dose for about 2 months until I felt normal. After tapering to about 10mg of DXM daily I just quit and felt fine..at that point I did not understand why people say they had horrible withdrawals lasting up to 6 months from Cymbalta but I managed to make it almost painless with just low dose DXM tapering.
What is DXM???? Dextromethorphan (DXM or DM) is an antitussive (cough suppressant) drug.
From http://www.fda.gov/D...s/ucm124915.htm Gee I was taking both Imitrex and Cymbalta…. And my doctor never warned me about Serotonin Syndrome

If you have been to a doctor and complained of sleep or mood disorders then you have probably been prescribed one of these drugs. Some examples include: Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Effexor, Prozac, and Seroquil. Please understand that these drugs significantly alter the function of your brain by temporarily increasing serotonin or norepinephrine levels. These drugs ARE EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE. (A "doctor" would probably say that it causes dependency) If you do have a sleep or mood problem please try 5-HTP first. This will naturally increase the serotonin level in your brain and will allow you to asses yourself to see if a lack of serotonin is your problem. HALF OF THE PEOPLE THAT COMMIT SUICIDE IN THE UNITED STATES ARE PRESCRIBED TO THESE TYPE OF DRUGS.
