Hi everyone,

I have been busy reading this great site the last 3 days, and I have got a lot of good information and MOTIVATION how to quit Cymbalta.

I've been taking it for almost 3 years now and have done a cold turkey (a little coincidence going over to Marplan where I had to have 2 days off cymbalta). Cymbalta totally took all my energy and I was so tired the most of the day

However during the 2 days I got my energy back, which I havent got the last year, and I decided and informed my doctor that I would try to continue not taking any med. at all. He agreed and said I should start Marplan if I got it bad.

After reading a lot on this site I decided to continue my very hard journey (first 2 days ok with some 'brainfreeze' and dizzyness and bad stomic, 3th day I got really sick, 4-6th day Im quit dizzy at some moments during the day, a lot of brainfreezes but it helps when I eat). My experience is so far that I feel ok some times during the day and other times I feel dizzy and have brainfreezes, but I can still go through the day working (I am manager at office) but I cut off a lot of activities being able to focus on my journey.

I'm still motivated to continue this journey but it would really help me if someone could tell me when I can expect the sideeffects are gone (eg. 4 weeks, 2 months, 6 months?).

Please share your experience with me what to expect on my journey and a timeline would really help, so I can see the light of the tunnel.

Thank you!

Jens

PS: I'm from Denmark so my english is not to good

Based on your resolved and your doctor's support, I'm guessing three to four weeks

Taking an MAOI (Marplan) and an SNRI (Cymbalta) at the same time is not good, so this is a good journey! The more you can tell us about how much you are taking of each, what you are being treated for the more we can help.

Breathe.

In fact the more I read, the more I want to say DO NOT take Marplan and Cymbalta together, it can cause a life threatening condition. Try not to start Marplan, your brain chemicals need to reset.

Hi Jen

Linda is right, do not take the Marplan and Cymbalta at the same time. You need to be off the Cymbalta for a few weeks before taking Marplan so best if you do not take it at all.

The bad side effects last about 3 weeks. Some side effects can last up to 12 weeks but most people are over them by 6 weeks.

Make sure you take the supplements to fight the side effects especially the Omega 3 2000mg twice a day really helps with the brainfreezes.

Also make sure you eat lots of vegetables and fruit to help your liver flush out the toxins.

Drink lots and lots of water to stay hydrated.

Good luck to you and take care
