Today is day five for me after two years of 60mgs a day and I'm doing it cold turkey. I just want this crap out of me. I had neck surgery two years ago and went I woke up both my arms were paralyzed....it's called c-5 palsy and I had a pretty severe case. I cried a lot hence the reason for the Cymbalta.....that and the doc said it's good for nerve pain of which I had a lot of. Sooooo I'm also on Oxycodone 20mg ext release 3 x day & 10/325 Percocet 2 x day and tired of them too. I still have nerve pain and arthritis in the neck and the cold Pennsylvania winters hurt but not so much when it's 90 in July. I know it's not the smartest thing to do but I'm weaning off of them too....not cold turkey but i'm down to 1 Oxy and 1 Perc AND NO CYMBALTA. it's not easy. I am currently In between jobs so I have the luxury of staying out of public if I so desire....and I do. i'm into day 6 now and I finally have some energy and motivation to do stuff around the house and my family says i'm starting to sound like my old self again. btw i'm  54 years old, have to great adult kids and have been married to my lovely wife 32 years. So my family and my four dogs are giving me their full support.

I did fail to mention that with physical therapy I regained about 75% use of my right arm and 80% of my left so I haven't been that depressed to warrant the need for any antidepressant let alone Cymbalta. This insomnia really sucks....it's like I sleep every other night because I am too exhausted to stay awake.....that and the sweats. I have the A.C. cracking in the house and freezing my poor wife out....although the dogs don't mind. How long does this last? I can't do this all summer, i'll be a vegetable by then. I'll end up like the dude in Pink Floyd's The Wall...."Hello, is there any body in there? Just nod if you can hear me." Thanks for any insight you can offer me....I'm gonna need it.

That support will be important wolfman. Going cold turkey is tough and things may get worse before they get better BUT they will get better. I hate to see someone not only on Cymbalta but also other hard core meds. I wish you the best of luck and a lot of patience. Don't rush coming off these meds too fast and be overwhelmed and have to go back on them. Good luck and keep us posted.

Good luck wolfman. It's great you have a supportive partner and fur kids.

Having animals around definitely helps, they love us whatever kind of mood we're in. And they are a good source of entertainment. It's hard not to laugh when your Jack Russell is trying to dig his way through your bean bag, or chasing his own tail.
