Recently started tapering off of Cymbalta. Having bad effects and wanted to see if there were any ways to do this without having such a negative impact on my functionality.

Also an FYI, now that Cymbalta has gone generic, Eli Lilly no longer provides free samples to your doctor. Believe me, I asked everywhere I could for them...all gone :(  Sorry, I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news if this has stressed anyone, but best to be informed... We can do this, right??!!

We can and we will.  Thank you for sharing that very good point...I'm glad I got my samples when I did.   I know I have enough beads left to make more capsules if I get too sick.   I feel so badly for people who are having to pay money for this expensive, useless drug.

Hi Tim, I sent a note a few minutes ago on another thread.

The return of pain and the melancholy are undoubtedly withdrawal. You said it yourself- you probably need to slow down or even back up.

There's no shame or guilt to be borne by you. You didn't create or intend this moment- it just arrived. But you can influence the content and meaning within the moments that will unfold tomorrow and next week. You have to be your own knight in shining armour- go to war - the stakes couldn't be higher.

I know that place you're in, and you need to fight a bit!

It's nice to hear all of that, thismoment.   I read your other post as well.   I need the accountability and appreciate everything you said.  I put what I said "out there," and you have given solid advice and wisdom.  I were to argue with you or resist your feedback, then I would be a whiner wasting everyone's time.     I don't LIKE that I have to do what you said, but (as you said) I didn't create or intend for this moment to arrive.  But the moment is here.   I can't function like this.   I don't WANT to function like this.   It's sucking the life out of me.   Thank you!  I'm ready to fight again.   I needed the coaching.  Your advice is always trusted an welcomed from me.  :-)

Interesting article on generics, including cymbalta, I think ....

BTW ... I posted about this elsewhere on the site, but shld mention it here .... I tried the generic cymbalta back in early December when I lost my insurance, cldnt afford the brand poison, and my doc said use the generic ... Just one dose, at 60 mg, nearly killed me .... Had a reaction straight from hell ... So, I went off cymbalta CT .... Not the best way to do it, but I'm glad I got off .....

Also, just before the cymbalta generic hell, I tried one of the new wellbutrin generics .... I had a terrible reaction to that as well ... Just like I'd had with the Teva generic of it that was just recently taken off the market ....

So, I scrounged up the money to pay for the brand wellbutrin ... Which is why I had no $$ to pay for the brand cymbalta ....

The doc told me that no one has reactions to the new wellbutrin generics or the generic cymbalta .... Ha ha ha ...

Beware of all generics of all antidepressants!
